Join the Battle in Dragon Strike

The battle continues in Dragon Strike: Puzzle RPG. Have you tried your hand in the battle to regain your kingdom!?

If you haven’t tried Dragon Strike yet and you like RPG or Match-3 games, why not!? Dragon Strike is easy to hop in and get started with and there’s tons of ways to play!

Today, we’d like to go over some of the gameplay systems within Dragon Strike. As we ‘show you around’, so to speak, remember that Dragon Strike is readily available from both the Play Store and App Store. If you like what you see here, download it and give it a go!

Dragon Strike, in Brief

Dragon Strike: Puzzle RPG is a game that includes engaging and beloved mechanics from multiple game genres, so it can seem intimidating to people at first glance. Once players get inside, however, they’ll find a lot of the systems quite familiar and intuitive.

Combat within the game takes place primarily in a match-3 style, though your specific team’s skills and abilities play a major role in how that combat plays out. As you match colors, Heroes of the corresponding colors will gain energy to use their powerful abilities.

There’s no turn-based play… you’ll need to be clever and quick. If your opponent is getting the upper hand, you have your inventory at your disposal. Use it to delay or debuff the opponents, or to buff your troops or do massive amounts of damage.

Regular Events

While Dragon Strike primarily employs RPG and match-3 elements, the regular event cycle adds more of a strategy facet to the game as well. These events are constantly rotating, and will reward you for taking specific actions – such as summoning, recruiting, killing monsters, etc.

The rewards for these events aren’t quite as big as the weekly events, but they add up. The best players will plan their use of resources and time to fit this event cycle. That way, they’re always on top of the leaderboard and pulling in the best rewards.

Your Town

As you play through the game, you’ll be fortifying your base. Exiled from your castle, you’ll need to build up this backwater town into a new seat of power.

In your town you have multiple plots to build and new buildings will become available as you level. You’ll level up resource buildings and storage, but you’ll also slowly grow your barracks and Dragon Pit to recruit powerful allies to your cause.

Crucially, you can also access The Summoning Portal from your town. Here you’ll be able to summon new Heroes and Dragons without waiting for them to slowly recruit from the barracks. Combine your recruits and summons to make a powerful team.

Your Troops

The Heroes and Dragons you summon will fill up your army over time. These units will start out with limited power at low level, but you can level them up by combining them with other like units.

As you build up Heroes and Dragons that you are less likely to use, combine them with your main team to increase the level of your best Heroes. Beware though, any Heroes or Dragons you use to as fodder to level will be gone forever!

Once your troops hit max level, you can use promotion items to increase their rank. This increases their stats and starts them back at level 1, where you can grind up their level to even more power! As rank increases, the promotion items required become rarer. You can always find what you need though somewhere in the campaign, dungeons or event rewards!

Campaign

The campaign is the ongoing battle to regain your kingdom from the evil Malum. In this mode, you’ll progress through levels in many areas, gradually increasing in difficulty and rewards.

As you go through the campaign, you’ll notice that each area has three likely drops listed. These are items that are more likely to drop from these areas, though they aren’t the only items that may drop as loot. You can use these favored drops to target farm what you need to grow your army.

Once you finish the campaign against Malum, an entirely new campaign will open with even more challenges. Be aware though – this is the endgame. The difficulty (and rewards) grow quickly here.

Dragon Strike

Dragon Strikes don’t carry the name of the game for nothing. These are serious battles against a series of insanely powerful Dragon bosses with potentially huge rewards.

This is a guild only event. Guilds work together to take down each and every Dragon placed before them. This takes both coordination and strategy. Using up your best items and all your energy early could leave you lacking on the tougher dragons.

Each guild only has a few days to rack up the kills here and rise on the leaderboards!

Tournament

The other side of the coin from Dragon Strike is the Tournament. This battle will present players with a wide array of battles for different level of Heroes. This battle goes on opposite weeks  from Dragon Strikes, and is more of an individual battle than a guild contest.

Players will wade through each wave of the tournament and be ranked according to the points they achieve. Points come from both clear speed and the size of the largest combo achieved during battle. Climb the leaderboard to get BIG rewards.

Dragonspire Tower

Dragonspire Tower happens between Dragon Strike and Tournament events, and is similar to the tournament, but requires a little more nuanced strategy.

In Dragonspire Tower, you’ll climb through a neverending progression of increasingly difficult battles. Each gives rewards for completing… but there’s a catch. You can’t use the same Hero or Dragon twice.

Guilds offer a MAJOR advantage though, as in Dragonspire Tower you can borrow Heroes and Dragons from other players in your guild to use in a battle. You can only borrow from each member of your guild one time though, so you’ll still have to make some strategic decisions and not use up all your power early!

Dungeons

Dungeons occur on a rotating schedule and have unique waves of enemies with fixed rewards. There’s a large variety of difficulties of dungeons – the occasional “Impossible” dungeons can be punishing until you figure out their strategy, but the rewards are usually worth it.

Each dungeon has rewards for a fixed amount of waves, but you can also continue diving deeper into the dungeon for increasing rewards once you’re done. Each dungeon carries its own leaderboard so you can push yourself to get deeper than anyone else.

Arena

The arena is where PvP comes into play in Dragon Strike: Puzzle RPG. Each player sets a defense team in the arena, then any attacking player can be matched against your defense team which will be played by the computer.

This asynchronous PvP system means that while you get to battle against the teams of your friends and rivals, there’s no long-winded wait for matchmaking. As soon as you enter the Arena, you’re right in the action.

Your rank in the arena depends on both your attacking and defending victories, so it may prove that different teams are better in each role. Experiment with your teams and see what you can make work.

The Gala Games Leaderboard

The Gala Games Leaderboard is a ranking system that occurs weekly and pulls performance in multiple events into one list of rewards. This is where players can accumulate $GALA for their efforts in the game.

These events rotate weekly, depending on whether Dragon Strike or the Tournament is happening that week. The Gala Games Leaderboard will reward players with points based on the number of NFT Heroes that they use during the relevant events that week. Players will receive more points multiplicatively for each NFT Hero they use, up to a maximum of 5x for a full party of NFT Heroes.

Players will accumulate points for their performance in The Arena, as well as Dragon Strike or the Tournament – whichever happens that week. At the end of the Leaderboard each week, players will receive $GALA based on their rank.

Prepare for Battle

Jump in and get battling today! If you haven’t started building up your army and preparing for the war, what are you waiting for!?

NFT-Ready Heroes can be summoned in game, and there’s plenty of NFTs available on OpenSea or NFT Harbor… but you don’t need to buy anything to hop in and start building your forces! You can download and start playing right away!

Dragon Strike is totally free to play and you can download it from the Play Store or the App Store today.

Squad Warfare: Guilds in Eternal Paradox

Squad Warfare: Guilds in Eternal Paradox

The Ring spins once again, and Season 5 is underway!

Have you taken your fate into your own hands in Elysium yet? The battle can’t be won alone… to rise to this great of a challenge, you need a team at your back.

Grab Your Squad

While there’s definitely individual glory to be gained in each season’s battle for dominance, Eternal Paradox is, at its core, a team game. If you’ve taken to the battle in Elysium but haven’t jumped into a guild to fight for common goals, you’re missing out!

There are many guilds in Elysium. You could peruse Discord communities to find the right one for you, or you could just grab an open spot right in the game! Each guild sets specific requirements to join. You’ll find some guilds that require a certain headquarters level or Captain level, but also others that are just happy to have any new Captain among their ranks!

To search for a new guild, just go to the “Guild” menu in game. From there, you can type the name of a guild in or scroll through the list. If you find a guild you’re interested in, you can request to join right away if there’s space. Some guilds will want you to reach out first though, and you can always contact the Guild Leader through a specific guild you’re looking at.

Team Perks

Having a guild means fighting together. You can start or join rallies with other guild members to defeat Black Sun Cultists or Shakram Legions that you could never best on your own. Keep in mind rallies against Black Sun Cults only cost seven stamina… attacking by yourself costs ten. That’s a huge advantage and let’s you save stamina for more battles!

When you’re attacked, your guild will be notified. If you’re in over your head, you can ping your guild for help. Guild members can even support your fortress, sending an entire army to help defend you.

Did you ever notice how resource sites have more than one gathering slot as you get into the higher tier sites? Guilds play a powerful part in the gathering game. If you take a gathering site, inviting five of your friends to work alongside you definitely makes you a much harder target to oust from the location.

Shared Goals

Guild Raids cannot be participated in outside a guild, and they are massively rewarding to players who give it their all.

When your guild attacks the Followers of Doom, you’ll get big rewards based on the damage you’ve dealt. It takes a while to summon the first boss, and grinding your way through each enemy is difficult. Those who persist and work with their guild to triumph, however, will receive resources, speedups and plenty more goodies!

The Guild Arena is another major aspirational task for many guilds out there. In this competition, you square off against another guild to prove you’ve got what it takes to stand tall at the final battle. No one guild member can carry the whole team. To reap the rewards, everyone will have to do their part. The first Guild Arena just started for Season 5… there’s plenty of time to get in there and fight some epic battles!

The Guild Festival also recurs throughout the season. In this event, players accept guild missions that they have 24 hours to complete. That’s not the only time pressure though, as a new mission won’t spawn until you’ve complete your current mission! The rewards for the top guilds can include Gems, titles and speedups. Everyone will get rewards along the way though, and even a guild who doesn’t land in the top of the leaderboard won’t walk away with nothing for their efforts.

The Final Battle

We can’t talk about Guilds without talking about Conquest.

Conquest is the major seasonal battle in Eternal Paradox, played out in three skirmishes throughout the season. If you’ve played but not taken part in Conquest, you’re missing one of the biggest parts of the battle for Elysium!

In Conquest, Guilds battle to maintain control of the 16 Ruins and the Ring of Ruin itself over the course of a 90 minute event. There’s lots of room for creative strategy here, as alliances between guilds and clever coordination can quickly tip the scales of power. Battles are major events, with whole guilds desperately trying to attack enemy Rally leaders to destabilize their opponents’ efforts.

Conquest is only a 90 minute event, and each happens several weeks apart – starting just before the middle of the season. They always happen on Saturdays (by UTC time at least), but each conquest rotates to another part of Saturday so that no time zone is totally left out of the fun. The first Conquest for Season 5 is coming on  Saturday, July 6th!

What Are You Waiting For?

Season 5 is just now starting its second week in a 49-day season. The first Guild Festival and Guild Arena have just kicked off, and Conquest is still weeks away. Now is a perfect time to hop in and find your team!

Dozens and dozens of Guilds active in the game are looking for more teammates! Go find a team to help you grow and prepare for the coming battle!

We’ll see you for a glorious fight in the battle for the Ring!

Mirandus: The Road Ahead

Mirandus: The Road Ahead

The journey takes you far… ever closer to Mirandus.

The wild and untamed land continues to grow more vast by the day as the team works diligently to craft Mirandus. A lot of progress has happened since the last time the community got Exemplar boots on the ground, and there’s going to be even more coming next week in our Town Hall!

Internal Playtest

Many of us at Gala Games hopped into an internal playtest recently! It was an absolute blast. I wish we could say that we’d prepped a bunch of material from it, but we were mostly laser focused on critical feedback.

That having been said, some little clips and snips of a few players’ experiences:

Just minding their my business – the beauty of the hills around the citadel! Then,

…Then, of course…

Running around getting eaten by wolves is fun… but are reasons that we test behind the scenes!

Bugs need killing, and one of the best things at Gala is that we can get such great feedback from other teams when we need it.

Other Mirandus Updates

We’ve been working on compiling and standardizing our entire catalog of assets for buildings, settlements and enemies. An MMO world needs to be diverse and engaging, and this leans heavily into the assets used to fill out the world. In a player-driven world like Mirandus, many assets need to be fine-tuned so that they work as intended and look like they belong in a wide variety of environments.

We’ve been doing a lot of work under the hood on systems. A full replacement of the asset loading system has solved multiple issues, and we’ve started crafting a new analytics system to really track behaviors better in game.

A lot of long work continues, as detailed systems require detailed efforts. Big strides have been made on designing the progression system and mechanics for armor and weapons. We’re exploring new concept art for animals, weapons and Purgatory.

The style and feel of armor is crucial to the gameplay experience of an MMORPG.

Not only does the armor need to enhance the player’s identity and fit in with the world, but it has to be designed to accommodate all the actions and animations that any Exemplar may need!

On the Horizon…

So, what’s coming up in Mirandus? Enough that we’d like the team to be able to tell you themselves!

Join us for a Town Hall meeting on June 26th where we have some exciting updates for you.

We look forward to talking more about what we’ve been working on, but also really dive into what’s happening right now and into the future.

We’ve internally solidified our roadmap throughout the rest of the year and it’s time to share with you where the journey will take us. Don’t miss this Town Hall!

Join us on June 26th!

Eternal Paradox: Season 5 Begins with Exciting New Updates!

Eternal Paradox: Season 5 Begins with Exciting New Updates!

Your bedraggled forces stared at the sheer carnage before them, thinking back over the bloodshed and battle tactics that had led them this far in the fight against the vile forces of Shakram. One great skirmish remained, and the fate of Elysium stood in the balance.

They fought bravely, with the inspiration of the most famous Mercenary leaders lifting their banners like a proud wind, and one by one, they fell in the fight.

The Ring of Ruin roared, and as the bouts and victories of the past weeks faded into a memory that blurred with each passing second, those who still stood shared two unified thoughts… “Are we destined to do it again?” and “Maybe this time will set us free.”
