New Champion: Beware the Eyes of Argos

New Champion: Beware the Eyes of Argos

The battle in the arena continues to intensify. Summoners are now experimenting with powerful new combos more after recent Nexus expansions, and a new Battle Pass has arrived… bringing with it a new Champion!

Argos, The Thousand Eyes

Argos was innocent once. He almost remembered it… like trying to grasp at a dream as it disappears into the morning.

He knew that everything had changed when the demons came to Ka-Drax. He knew he had changed, but he didn’t quite recall how he was before. He didn’t care, really. There had been so much pain…he just wanted to make the world feel the terror of all that pain he had felt.

Normal Attack will deal damage to a single enemy, with a match dealing even more damage.

Evil Ray deals damage to two random enemies. A match will inflict more damage, as well as adding stacks of Cursing Gaze to targets.

Gaze of Curse deals damage to all enemies. A match will increase the damage dealt, add stacks of Cursing Gaze to targets and grant Argos Watchful Eye.

Gaze of Fear grants Argos Watchful Eye at the start of the battle, which will cause enemies with too many Cursing Gaze debuffs on them to become petrified. While Argos has Watchful Eye, he will also deal extra damage to petrified targets.

The Arena Calls

The battle has begun, and Argos is already live in the game, inside the 7th Champions Battle Pass! The Battle Pass is the only way to acquire Argos, so make sure and grab one if you want to really keep an eye (or many eyes!) on your opponents.

Good luck on the new Battle Pass, Summoners. See you in the arena!

Champions Arena: Nexus Update and Arena Adjustments

Champions Arena: Nexus Update and Arena Adjustments

The battle in Champions Arena keeps growing, and the updates planned for tomorrow’s patch push the glorious battle to new heights!

This update has big changes for how Summoners assemble their parties for battle, as well as how they are rewarded for glorious victory!

Nexus Update

Summoners will now be able to use an NFT Champion that was acquired through The Nexus much more. When you grab a Champion through The Nexus, you’ll now have one hour to use that Champion as much as you’d like before the term expires.

You can only take a Champion through The Nexus once per day by default, but this can be reset once per day by using 150 paid Gems. There is no way to reset this cooldown twice in a day.

When using an NFT Champion through The Nexus, you have up to 15 battles where you’re eligible to win Victory Points from victories. Please note that even lost battles apply to this limit, so make it count every time you step into the arena!

Arena VP Update

All NFT Champions will now have a limit to how many battles per day are eligible for VP as well. This limit is dynamic and will differ from Summoner to Summoner.

For each NFT Champion you own, you’ll get a certain number of battles that qualify for VP each day. Every rarity of NFT adds a different amount to this limit, and all your owned NFTs are added together to determine your daily total.

  • Common: 3 Battles
  • Uncommon: 5 Battles
  • Rare: 8 Battles
  • Epic: 13 Battles
  • Legendary: 35 Battles

For example – If a Summoner owns 2 Legendary, 3 Rare and 2 Uncommon NFT Champions, their total would be:

  • 2x Legendaries – 35 x 2 = 70
  • 3x Rare – 8 x 3 = 24
  • 2x Uncommon – 5 x 2 = 10

So this particular Summoner would be eligible for VP in their first 104 (70+24+10) battles each day.

If a Champion is acquired through The Nexus, this would still give this player those additional 15 battles during the day.

Other Reward Improvements

The above VP changes aren’t the only reward change coming in this update!

Summoners can now get free Gems for playing daily in the arena! The amount received will depend on Arena Tier, and the maximum amount that can be received each day will depend on Summoner Level.

Winners will receive three free Gems from each battle in Gold Tier or below, or four free Gems from each battle in Platinum Tier or above.

Losers will receive two free Gems from each battle in Gold Tier or below, or four free Gems from each battle in Platinum Tier or above.

The maximum number of free Gems a player can receive in this way each day depends on their Summoner Level. At Summoner Level 1, the limit is 200. This scales up gradually to a limit of 358 at Summoner Level 80.

Arena Formula Changes

Finally, there are some alterations to how Summoners fight their way up through the ranks in The Arena.

The rating difference between you and your opponent now directly affects how much rating you could potentially gain when you are victorious. Beating a tough opponent will now be rewarded with greater rating gains than someone who is an easy match for you.

The matching formula has also been altered to complement this. You should generally now see Summoners that are closer to your rating more often.

The Battle Continues!

We hope these changes will give each Summoner new ways to strategize, progress and dominate the competition! The opportunity to use Nexus Champions more should let everyone experiment with more new techniques, and now everybody can grab some extra Gem rewards from the arena!
Battles within The Arena are constantly evolving, and the best Summoners are the ones who stay one step ahead of their enemies.

Good luck with your new attack plans Summoners… we’ll see you in the arena!

Latest and Greatest: Champions Arena Q1

Latest and Greatest: Champions Arena Q1

For this issue of Gala’s Latest and Greatest, we’re taking a look at Champions Arena, the epic RPG battler built by the incredible dev team at OneUniverse. This amazing group of accomplished game devs had a special place in their heart for RPG battle mechanics like those found in the old school classic console RPGs with which many of us grew up and sharpened our strategy skills.

They were captivated by the endless strategic combinations of both attacks and defenses, different abilities from different characters, the variety of equipment and weapons, and of course, incredible and timeless character art. Envisioning a new type of game that embraced and elevated the battle mechanics while placing beautiful art on a pedestal, the OneUniverse dev team conceived the idea of Champions Arena.

Battle All Day

What truly sets Champions Arena apart from other mobile RPGs is its strong focus on battle above everything else. In the various types of arenas, players can collect and deploy over a hundred different Champions, with new Champions being added regularly with new updates.

With so many unique Champions, each with its own set of abilities and buffs, the strategy combos are virtually endless, even for the most dedicated players. Upsets and surprises are always possible, and through proper strategy, it’s possible to defeat Champion teams with much higher levels–If you play your cards right.

Grind or Compete

With both PvE and PvP modes, Champions Arena allows players to alternate between many different modes of gameplay to always keep things fresh. There’s always a way to grind in Champions Arena.

Take on other players with your best Champion team in the PvP “Arena” mode, where gameplay is measured by Seasons, each lasting several weeks. Within each Season, players battle for Leaderboard positions, competing for piles of loot in the form of Gems (used to buy various in-game items and equipment), Arena reward chests (containing super rare equipment and items) and Minting Scrolls, which are used to mint collected in-game Champions as NFTs on GalaChain.

NFT Champions

Because we’re running on GalaChain, players have the unique option to own their Champions as minted tokens (NFTs), allowing them to trade on secondary markets and transfer to other users. Browse the secondary market on OpenSea

Daily $GALA Rewards are also distributed for those who play with NFT Champions that are minted on GalaChain. From a reward pool determined each day by how much was spent on in-game purchases throughout that day, victorious players receive a portion of $GALA equivalent to their victory, compared to other NFT owning players.

Ownership is not required at all to play the game and collect Champions, but owning unlocks the ability to earn rewards in the PvP Arena. Through the use of Minting Scrolls, every Champion has the ability to be minted as an NFT on GalaChain. This allows players to level up their favorites while collecting Scrolls, then mint them as tokens once they’re ready to take on the competition in the Arena for real rewards!

So Many Rewards

With Daily Quest rewards, Idle rewards and more, there are so many ways to convert your time and energy into Champions Arena in-game loot. Additionally, the team is always spinning up new ways to unlock excitement.

Valentine Rewards

Right now, complete tasks in the special Valentine category to accumulate Love Medals to spend on Champions, items, equipment and more in a special in-game store! You have just over two weeks left to grind out these exclusive Valentine Challenges before the opportunity is gone!

From February 7th-February 20th, 500 Love Medals will be given away beach day, so be sure to login daily!

Events and Promos

Be sure to check all the Events so you never miss out on potential rewards. The best way to get as many rewards as possible is to keep up a daily login streak–The more consecutive days you play, the greater your rewards. Even without purchasing Summon Tickets, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can build up a solid collection of Champions simply by logging in daily and collecting your gameplay rewards!

New Champions

New Champions are released in each new Season. To ensure that they get into the hands of the hungry players, these new Champions are given a greatly enhanced drop rate from Summon Tickets throughout the first Season of their arrival!

Until the end of the current season, you’ll have an increased chance of summoning both Deros and King Titan, the brand new Champions in the game!

For Sale in the Gala Store

Sometimes you’ll have the chance to purchase Champion Boxes directly from the GalaChain store, which contain already-minted NFT Champions of various rarities. But you’ll have to watch the store closely because these Champion Boxes tend to sell out quickly!

Gem Packs are always available in various quantities, and they’re the best way to beef up your Champions Arena collection quickly! Starting today (February 8th) in honor of the Lunar New Year celebration, all Gem Packs are 15% off in the Gala store!

New Year, New Champions

New Year, New Champions

Thanks for a great 2023 Champions Arena! We’ve got 3 new Champions ready for 2024 right away!

A whole new year begins in the arena, and you have got to be ready!

All new Champions are joining the fight in 2024. Will these new combatants fight alongside your team, or oppose your dreams of glory? The battle continues to escalate in Champions Arena… be prepared to square off against tons of new threats as we enter a new era of the arena!

All three of these new Champions will enter the available pool for summons, each carrying a boost to their chances to celebrate their introduction. As a reminder, this means that when these Champions are introduced, there will be none available immediately until lucky Summoners get their hands on one!

Sun Wokong, The Monkey King

The child of the Great Rock of Astrakheim, Sun Wukong never carried much love for the priests and angels from that realm. Their fundamental differences created misunderstanding, then resentment.

When the great Temple fell was torn asunder by his hand, only his beloved tutor defended him. Spurned by all, The Monkey King now seeks to prove his indomitable strength and avenge himself and his only friend.

Normal Attack strikes out at a single enemy and gains you +1 mana. A color match will boost the mana gain to 2.

Boundless Strikes release a powerful blow on a single enemy. A color match will buff your Crit Rate before the attack.

Heaven Crusher unleashes a massive slam on all opponents, with a color match buffing your crit before the attack.

Decoy allows Sun Wokong to utilize his powers of mischief to summon clones of himself into battle. As The Monkey King is dealt damage, clones will be consumed to limit his injuries. Each time Sun Wokong or an ally lands a critical strike, a new clone will be generated.

Violet, Queen of Enchantment

All creatures feed. Does that make them all evil? The succubi need the humans… but the chaos now prevents them from accepting the sweet dreams provided for a succubus to dine.

Violet knows the path. She must help the world be rid of this chaos if the succubi are to survive. Is it predator assisting prey or the act of a passionate and ancient symbiosis?

Normal Attack lashes out at a single enemy, dealing damage and generating one mana. A color match boosts the mana gain to two.

Blood Temptation enchants a single foe, dealing damage based on Attack. A color match will cause the opponent both Attack Down and Damage Reduction debuffs.

Fatal Temptation unleashes terror and changes her ambience aura from Queen of Enchantment. This deals damage to all opponents while increasing both her turn gauge and that of the allied Champion with the highest Attack. A color match will boost the damage against enemies even further.

Queen of Enchantment shrouds Violet in strong magic, affecting every enemy combatant. As long as she remains in the battle, her ambience will cause a debuff on all enemies. Each time she uses Fatal Temptation, the effect this ability has on opponents changes.

Naomi, Traveling Arms Dealer

Naomi offers her customers two critical things: a wide and authentic smile, and the best equipment to protect, maim, incinerate, repel or otherwise wage warfare anywhere! Well, not exactly anywhere. The best you’ll find right here though!

Wherever there’s conflict, Naomi is there with a smile and a firm handshake — always ready to make a deal. Sure, there’s people with more cutting edge products, but do you see them setting up shop in this siege? Naomi’s gear is reliable, innovative and effective… and she’s willing to travel to whatever war she needs to so she can prove it.

Normal Attack strikes a single opponent, dealing damage based on the highest Attack among Naomi’s allies and generates one mana. A color match increases mana gain to two.

Bomb Toss deals damage based on the highest Attack on Naomi’s team to one enemy and generates one mana. A card match will inflict Resist Down on the opponent.

Broadside Barrage deals damage based on the Attack of Naomi’s hardest hitting ally to all enemies while also increasing the duration of all debuffs on enemies. A color match will inflict a Take More Damage debuff on the unfortunate enemies as well.

Industrious Merchant keeps Naomi and her team setting the pace of battle. Every time a debuff is inflicted on an enemy, Both Naomi and the ally with the highest attack will get a boost to their Turn Gauge.

The Celebration Continues

These aren’t the only new Champs around, as we have Agna who came into play from the Christmas sale! You may also catch a glimpse of Tempest in Mayhem, as they’re now storming their way into raids.

The issue with Mayhem records not counting in the Christmas event has been fixed, and we’ve reduced the number of missions required in the remaining days to account for this. All players will receive 3000 stockings as an apology for this issue.

In the spirit of celebration, we’ve also extended the holiday login event. Thank you all for an excellent 2023… and an exciting 2024 on the horizon!
