Introducing Rep: A Web3 Social Network Coming to GalaChain

Introducing Rep: A Web3 Social Network Coming to GalaChain

GalaChain will soon host a new web3 social media network called Rep with a dedicated Node network.

It’s time to officially announce that a groundbreaking new web3 social media network called Rep is coming soon to GalaChain. This adventure is set to demonstrate the remarkable potential of GalaChain, expand the Gala Games ecosystem to a wider audience, and elevate the overall Gala Games experience with cutting edge social features.

Your Data, Your Rep

In a world where data privacy has become a significant concern and online giants are clashing over control of social platforms, Rep is a breath of fresh air. This partnership between Gala Games and Rep goes beyond providing an engaging social media experience; it underscores our commitment to empowering users to own their data and regain control.

While the war between Twitter and Mark Zuckerberg’s competing social network, Threads, rages on, Rep aims to revolutionize the social media landscape with a user-focused approach. In stark contrast to tiring traditional platforms, Rep’s core ethos is to put control back into the hands of the users. Sound familiar?

GalaChain Fits Rep

The most beautiful part is the platform has already been built (with awesome geolocation and AR capabilities). The work ahead is about bringing it to GalaChain.

Check out the Rep preview!

For anyone concerned that using GalaChain to host a social media network would somehow dilute our mission–Rest assured that development and management of Rep are entirely in the hands of an extraordinary third-party team. While this project will level us up considerably, we barely have to spend any time grinding it.

As we have said over and over, we’re all about making the best games you’ve ever played. The best games you’ve ever played will always have an integral social component. That’s why it’s so important to support a social media platform with a vision as big as ours and (thanks to GalaChain), the web3 power to pull it off.

This platform will enhance your experience as a Gala Games player in countless ways, with no ongoing resources needed from the Gala Games team. This is where the GalaChain infrastructure we have worked so hard to build gets a chance to show the world what it can do.

The Journey of Rep

We can hardly wait for Gala Games treasure hunts!

A prototype of Rep has already been successfully built nearby (on the NEAR blockchain in fact), but in the coming months, it will transition to GalaChain. Here, it will be hosted by a network of Rep Nodes and fully integrated within the Gala Games ecosystem.

To learn more about Rep, check out this May blog post from founder Neil Haran. The first Rep Node licenses will be available soon. Look for more details about the upcoming Rep Node license sale during next week’s new episode of Ahead of the Game with BitBender, Thursday, July 13th at 4pm PT.

Earning Rewards on Rep

Rep Users will have multiple opportunities to earn rewards, whether operating Nodes, interacting with the network, or referring new users. Because Rep will be built on GalaChain, all users on Rep will have access to Gala Games ecosystem accounts. This includes access to a diverse range of exciting platforms such as Gala Games, Gala Film, and Gala Music.

Treasure Hunts on Rep

One of the most exciting things about Rep on GalaChain is the Treasure Hunt feature. The possibilities are virtually endless for things like scavenger hunts, quests, contests and more. Look for more information very soon about the first of these gamified social contests!

Gala Friends on Rep

Let’s cut right to the chase: we owe you a friend system. You need social features in your state-of-the-art gaming experience! One of the reasons we’re so excited about Rep is Gala Friends. You’ve been hearing about it for long enough–It’s time to make Gala Friends a reality.

Gala Friends will be among the first examples of a dedicated social network within the Rep ecosystem. Thanks to the immense capabilities of Galachain, we’re all about to level up and unlock the ability to create private label web3 social media networks of our own. There will be plenty of time for more information about that later, but you can go ahead and get excited about it now.

The Future of Rep

Stay tuned for detailed information about Rep from its development team, relayed to you through the Gala Games blog. As mentioned above, Gala Games is planning to host a Node license sale for Rep within the coming weeks. More detailed information will not be revealed until the new episode of Ahead of the Game with BitBender on Thursday, July 13th at 4pm PT.

Benefits for Gala Games

This partnership presents a unique opportunity to bring in a new audience of social media users who haven’t yet experienced web3. By providing the backbone and structure of the network, Gala Games allows Rep to decentralize its hosting and empower its users just as we do on the Gala Games platform.

The introduction of Rep on GalaChain marks the beginning of a new chapter, and illustrates the immense power and utility of GalaChain to the wider web3 world.

This is just the start, and we can’t wait to embark on this journey with all of you.

Stay tuned for more information about this exciting new platform and network, the upcoming Node license sale, and the many ways it will revolutionize the Gala Games experience.

Envisioning a More Decentralized Future: Discussing the Node-Based Cumulative Lifetime Points…

Envisioning a More Decentralized Future: Discussing the Node-Based Cumulative Lifetime Points…

In the rapidly evolving world of blockchain technology, the ability to adapt, rethink, and revise our strategies is vital for the growth and sustainability of our network. The dynamics of our ecosystem are complex, requiring a constant reassessment of our approaches. Previously, we explored the concept of a ‘bonus pool,’ a mechanism to allocate different types of points with varying weights. However, we found this approach presented several challenges, such as conceptual complications in weighting differing points and its lack of direct applicability to the operation of Nodes. As a result, this proposal was deemed unfeasible.

Instead, we’re opening up a discussion today on a new concept, one that focuses on the idea of ‘cumulative lifetime points’ and will apply to the entire Founders’ Node portion of the distribution. Before we delve into the specifics, it’s critical to underline that this is an exploratory dialogue, not a formal governance proposal. This conversation is an invitation for the community to ponder upon a potential restructuring of our ecosystem’s dynamics, moving it towards an even more decentralized future.

NOTE: In the event that this, or more likely a modified version of this proposal for discussion, is approved by a Founders’ Node vote, it would not go into effect until Founders’ Nodes had been converted into NFTs and were able to be freely moved throughout the ecosystem.

Now, onto the proposal. The ‘cumulative lifetime points’ proposition hinges on incentivizing the decentralization of Node operators. It is guided by an aspiration to maximize our network’s security and antifragility. We envision an optimal scenario where our network consists of 50,000 Founder’s Nodes, each one running on a separate machine and operated by a unique individual. This goal aligns perfectly with our commitment to enhancing decentralization, which stands at the very core of blockchain technology.

At the heart of this proposal is a logarithmic function designed to calculate bonus points based on the number of Nodes a user operates. These points are cumulative and add to the distribution every day, rewarding Node operators’ consistent participation. However, to maintain equilibrium in our ecosystem, these bonus points would be deducted when users mint their $GALA.

A significant aspect of this idea is the potential unlocking of Node NFTs. This enables users to have more control and flexibility over their Nodes, allowing them to mint, transfer, or sell their Node NFTs as they desire. This feature could stimulate increased dynamism within the network, encouraging further decentralization and bringing new blood into an ecosystem that has been seen as unapproachable by many.

To facilitate an understanding of this proposal and to encourage community interaction, we have created a Google Sheet that allows you to play with these variables and explore how different behaviors might work. You can make a copy and adjust the parameters to see the proposal’s potential effects.

As we navigate the potential of the ‘cumulative lifetime points’ structure, we invite your participation in this critical discussion. Your insights and perspectives are invaluable in evaluating this proposal’s merits and potential areas for refinement. Remember, this discussion is aimed at strengthening our ecosystem’s decentralization, and it is not a definitive governance proposal. Together, we can shape the future of our network, ensuring it remains resilient, secure, and truly decentralized.

Draft Governance Proposal: Implementing a Node-Based Cumulative Lifetime Points Structure with New Logarithmic Function to Advance Decentralization

Introduction

This governance proposal presents an innovative bonus points structure based on the concept of “Node-Based Cumulative Lifetime Points.” This strategy focuses on the number of Nodes operated by a user, aiming to counteract platform centralization and foster decentralization within our ecosystem. With the proposed system, cumulative lifetime points accrue daily, directly correlating with your active participation in our community.

Proposal Details

We propose the adoption of a new logarithmic function, P = 5.7*log10(N) (+1 if N=1), for the allocation of bonus points. Here, N signifies the number of Nodes a user operates, and P denotes the points awarded. Here are the points for various Node counts (N) using this function, rounded to two decimal places:

Operating 1 Node: 5.7*log10(1) + 1 = 1 point
Operating 2 Nodes: 5.7*log10(2) ≈ 1.71 points
Operating 5 Nodes: 5.7*log10(5) ≈ 3.98 points
Operating 10 Nodes: 5.7*log10(10) ≈ 5.70 points
Operating 25 Nodes: 5.7*log10(25) ≈ 7.96 points
Operating 50 Nodes: 5.7*log10(50) ≈ 9.68 points
Operating 100 Nodes: 5.7*log10(100) ≈ 11.40 points
Operating 250 Nodes: 5.7*log10(250) ≈ 13.66 points
Operating 500 Nodes: 5.7*log10(500) ≈ 15.38 points
Operating 1000 Nodes: 5.7*log10(1000) ≈ 17.10 points
Operating 7000 Nodes: 5.7*log10(7000) ≈ 21.91 points

Using this updated logarithmic function, Node operation decentralization is encouraged.

Notably, new Founder’s Nodes joining our ecosystem will begin with the lowest Node bonus point total from currently operational Nodes, providing a fair starting point and ensuring that they are not disadvantaged by having to catch up from zero.

Cumulative lifetime points will be added to the distribution daily, rewarding consistent Node operators over time. However, these “bonus points” will be deducted when users mint their $GALA, maintaining a balanced ecosystem.

Please note, these values are approximate and may slightly differ due to rounding.

Conclusion

We believe that the Node-Based Cumulative Lifetime Points structure, supported by the new logarithmic function, will foster decentralization and discourage potential centralization issues. We invite all community members to participate in the discussion, ask questions, and express their views. Your active participation aids us in building a more robust, decentralized, and user-focused ecosystem.

The Arena Salutes Hero Tanks

The Arena Salutes Hero Tanks

The Tiger will soon be the latest Hero Tank in the arena. Let’s look at some of the classic Heroes that came before it.

Tiger is the latest Tank slated to enter garages across the Planetary Union. This is the first Hero Tank to be released since December, so we thought it would be a great time to look back at some of the mightiest arena heroes that came before Tiger.

While the technology in the arena is always moving forward, some of the firepower from the past is irreplaceable in its strategic benefit to a Pilot. Hero Tanks frequently have special ways of dominating opponents that you just can’t find anywhere else!

Heroes, We Salute You

Hero Tanks are powerful, pre-built combos that come complete with Weapon, Body and Skin. Each Part can be used and upgraded independent of the others, but they typically synergize together in a unique build. All three parts together make up a Hero Tank NFT, and they always are bought, sold or transferred as a package deal. The Body and Weapon on a Hero Tank are totally independent parts though, so one item in your inventory essentially gets you two pools of potential VP gain every day.

Each Hero Tank combo is arguably just a little overpowered in its own way. Favorites like the Lava Tank, Whaleshark and Alpha Executioner are commonly cited as some of the most powerful Tanks around.

The last Hero Tanks released were back in Generation 1. In December of 2022, Pilots first got their chance to own the T-Rex. This powerful combo consists of the Rex Body and the T-Ray Weapon. No other Weapon can fire blasts of concentrated antimatter through walls.

RAWR. The T-Ray is monstrously powerful, but slows your Tank down when you shoot. Solid team support and a Pilot who knows how to evade enemies make a Rex every bit as powerful as its primordial inspiration.

Many Pilots have found that the T-Rex has a bit of a learning curve associated with it, but those who learn to Pilot it well are feared throughout the Earthen cluster.

Many Pilots around today also have felt the terror of The Tortoise up close and personal. These hulking boomerang blade shooters were first released in 2022.

Tortoise has ways to destroy enemies that no other Tank does. Cover does little to protect against a Pilot that’s well practiced with The Blade Spinner.

The Tortoise is a bulky Body that’s slow but steady. Blade Spinner is the signature Weapon from this combo, and it can be charged up to fire whatever distance you want (up to some insane range). On reaching its destination, it will turn around and return to you. Many Pilots can have trouble making precise shots with it early on, but once it’s second nature you will be a force to be reckoned with against any opponent.

Before all that, Snoop’s Bumpin’ Lowrider hit the arena in February of ’22. In addition to making you feel like you were right there with Snoop sippin on gin and juice, this combo rolls over opponents with the unparalleled bass coming from its roof-mounted subwoofer.

While it may not stun all the time, even a moment is long enough for you to assault the enemy with more sick beats.

This Hero Tank combo is made up of Snoop’s Bumpin’ Lowrider and the Beat Blaster Weapon. Again, many Pilots find that the lowrider style of this high-energy Body can be tough to get used to… but it’s very rewarding for those that perfect playing with it. The Beat Blaster Weapon lays down a massive damage cadence, and can momentarily stun opposing Tanks. This totally unique advantage isn’t present in any other Weapon.

A Tradition of Heroism

Hero Tanks may not come around often, but they offer a Pilot unique strategies and the added convenience of getting a complete Tank Combo in one package from the store. Plus, they generally have wickedly cool themes.

A walk down memory lane quickly shows that some of the most powerful Tanks found in the arena are older Heroes, even as new technologies rise up around them.

The JACKED O’ Lantern has been around for awhile, but it hasn’t rotted yet! Blasts that deal burst damage and damage over time while also slowing enemies in an area is something you just can’t get from any other Tank.

Every Hero Tank has some special twist that Pilots can use to their strategic advantage. Whether this be the ice trails from Santa’s Slay or the homing torpedoes from the WhaleShark, Hero Tanks always have some extra functionality that may take awhile to adjust to… but can be extremely useful once you get good with it.

With Santa’s Slay, your speed increase from ice trails stack with speed bonuses from Speed Boosters or Skins and Props! While you’re fast forwarding on the frozen ground, your opponents are slowed down. With the high Energy on this Body, many find this an unstoppable, Reactive Plating-detonating monster!

Many Hero Tanks are exceedingly rare, but still make their impact on the arena every day. Lava Tanks are notoriously one of the most versatile competitors in the arena, and were among the first Tanks ever unveiled– only a handful exist!

Likewise, the feared Alpha Executioner has ordinance found nowhere else in the arena. True, it doesn’t have a slow or a stun like some other Hero Tanks, but it does fire quick missiles that detonate in an area. The firing pattern can be hard to get used to, but if you use the AoE splash at the end to your advantage it is definitely deadly.

The Scorpion may not be as flashy as a Chicken, but it’s acidic blasts can quickly and quietly end most any enemy. Timing can be difficult for Pilots used to traditional linear Weapons, but those who practice will discover that Scorpion’s sting is vicious.

The Tiger Unleashed

This brings us to today… when the Tiger Tank is ready for battle. This new Hero Tank offers absolutely unique ways of dominating the competition, just like its predecessors. The Tiger Body has medium stats for maximum adaptability during the hunt. The Ripper Weapon fires like a straightforward, linear Weapon… but then splits into 3 sub-projectiles to rip apart your opponents.

Listen to that baby purr

Pilots will have to learn the pace of this new Tank to use it to its full potential. Distance from your opponents and timing could be the difference between hitting with one projectile or laying into their whole team with split bullets. A skilled Tiger Pilot may find enemies hiding just behind cover aren’t as safe as they think… Ripper can cut that corner if fired correctly.

Are you ready to figure out how to fight with and against this good kitty?

With the Tiger Tank joining such an illustrious group of Heroes, we’re excited to see how it transforms and pushes the meta of arena combat forward. Like all Hero Tanks before it, we’re sure we’ll see this combo’s unique identity being used in creative ways as Pilots practice how to craft strategies around it.

To all the Heroes in the arena, The Planetary Union salutes you! Bring home some victory… you deserve it.

Don’t forget about the Tiger Tank sale starting at noon PT on Wednesday, July 5th!
