Galaxian Highlights 10 | The Voxel Vindicators

We’re back again to spotlight a dynamic duo laboring tirelessly to craft unique experiences side by side.

As we dive deeper and deeper into the clockwork of brilliant experts that allow the web3 world to tick into the future, the theme of community resounds constantly through each individual’s experience. It takes all of us to push the world of entertainment into tomorrow, together. That feeling of togetherness almost feels more than just disconnected, decentralized community… it often feels like family.

We all watch out for each other and work closely together in our pursuit of revolutionary entertainment experiences. We offer differing perspectives, collaborate for new innovations and prop each other up when necessary. It’s hard not to feel like this Web3 world is a family of sorts, but the pair of Galaxians we’re showcasing today take it a step further– they are family.

This husband and wife duo are charting the early explorations of intrepid VOX throughout all of decentralized existence. The Meaning of Community

The Meaning of Community

Community is everything in the world of Web3.

This is more than just another sound off about how community is important to us. This time, we’ll try to help you understand why.

TL;DR

  • As a member of our community, you are our favorite.
  • You are even more important than you know.
  • Our best people, ideas and resources come from your world.
  • Thank you.

Web3 is a Small World

Not to sound like a broken record here*, but y’all are early to this party.

*a record was a primitive but technologically impressive vinyl disc that was used in ancient history to store and reproduce sounds by scratching a needle across its spinning, grooved surface. Sometimes the needle or the record would malfunction, resulting in a small repeated portion of sound… kind of like a Tik Tok.

Out of 7.75 billion people in the world, only about 17 million own a blockchain wallet, which is about 0.219%. Source

If you feel like all you see is Web3, it’s only because that’s your world. For every person like you, there are over 450 more people who are still oblivious to the ways blockchain tech is beginning to transform their lives.

Web2 Doesn’t always Love Web3

This is an important point that isn’t often considered by those asking themselves what’s taking so long with mass adoption.

Without going into too much gritty detail…

Large Web2 social media companies have worked hard to cultivate an internet where they’re the ones who benefit from your attention, your spending, and your support. They didn’t want you to discover that your time and energy can have real value, and that value can sometimes be converted into rewards.

Basically, Web2 is afraid of Web3 because those calling the Web2 shots will lose profits as more consumers become empowered by Web3. They’re interested in keeping the lid on that Pandora’s Box as long as they can. This is why communities are so powerful (and so crucial) in the Web3 world.

Our community proves that, even while mainstream media advertisers are often stacked against us, the word of player empowerment will always spread. That’s the easiest way to tell that we’re onto something huge here.

What is a Movement without a Community?

Have you ever noticed that people rarely rally behind and build communities in support of bad ideas? The ideas that tend to effectively grow communities are those that have real world-changing potential.

Web3 is a huge paradigm shift that will leave no industry unaffected. It’s bringing power and control back to regular people everywhere. When we stop to consider the limitless future extensions of this empowerment, it’s easy to see why Gala Games has grown into one of the most solid and sincere communities on the planet.

Rewarding Our Community

At Gala Games, we believe that in the past, communities have rarely been cultivated and cared for as they deserve, especially in the gaming industry. This is why it’s so important to us to do things differently.

We have an open Discord community in which people are encouraged to express themselves (for better or worse), and many members of the Gala Games teams are readily reachable there anytime. We hope you realize how strikingly rare this is for a gaming community of our size and scope. You still must be polite and follow the rules of course, but unpopular opinions are always welcome.

We even have a special VIP lifetime membership club called Gala Gold. Membership gets you access to a smaller, more exclusive Discord area with easier access to the team, frequent leaks, AMA opportunities, and more. We’re not here today to talk about the multitude of benefits to Gala Gold membership, but trust us: Becoming a member is a good decision.

We think that communities should be rewarded not only with attention and engagement, but also with literal rewards. As a member of the Gala Games community, you’ll usually find a plethora of opportunities to receive rewards for participating in the community.

The earlier you’re here, the more grateful we are for your support of the Gala Games Ecosystem. You’ll also find that early adopters have even more reward opportunities than those who discover us later.

If you haven’t gotten to know the Gala Games community yet, you’re still early. Join us in Discord!

The Responsibility of Empowerment

The Responsibility of Empowerment

In the empowering Web3 world, you must take your destiny into your own hands

This is the future of gaming, where ownership is real and the physicality of an object, idea, or asset is less important than what it represents.

At Gala Games, we empower people to own their gameplay by introducing them to Web3 tech. The idea that thanks to cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens, players can truly own their gaming assets is so revolutionary that it’s catching all over the world like wildfire. Vast amounts of money are already flowing through Web3 ecosystems, and this is just the beginning. Still, many newcomers underestimate the risks of the space, as well as the enhanced security that true responsibility for one’s assets demands.

Welcome to the Guardian Papers

From our staunch desire to both protect and empower members of our beloved community, the Guardian Papers were born. Through this series of articles on the responsibility of ownership, security guidelines and red flags, we hope to empower our community in a different way: Education.

We want each of you to have the tools to effectively avoid the scams and thieves that can unfortunately be easily found lurking in the corners of the Web3 world. We utilize blockchain systems for their unmatched security potential, but there will always be people who make it their life’s work to prey on the under informed, the gullible, or worst of all, the generous.

Understanding and staying ahead of the bad actors is an important part of doing your own research, a phrase you’ll hear over and over in the crypto world. In this world, your money is no safer than your wallet, your wallet is as safe as your private keys, and your private keys are nothing short of sacred to you. Lose your firm, secure grasp on any of these things, and your assets may be as good as gone. This is decentralization. There is no big bank ready to protect you and replace funds that were taken fraudulently. It’s all on you. The power is with the players.

Almost anyone can enjoy all the empowerment of the Web3 space as long as they also understand and accept the responsibilities.

Trust Yourself

Do not let these warnings make you afraid, but rise to the challenge of practicing basic security measures to keep your money and assets safe. You are more capable of protecting yourself than any corporate bank, but you will have to spend some time and energy taking this power and responsibility into your own hands.

Through the years we have been encouraged to focus on simplicity and trust in the financial world. The convenience of cash transfer apps, debit cards and anytime/anywhere banking have taught us that money can move quickly and smoothly behind the scenes with little effort on our part. While highly convenient, it is easy to forget that this system requires trust of countless entities who are essentially strangers to you. With Web3 tech, we are rapidly moving toward eliminating the need for financial trust. When trust is removed from the equation, a scammer’s power of its victims is vastly reduced.

Owning crypto may not require you to trust a bank, but you must always trust yourself. You must trust yourself to never lose your seed or recovery phrase. You must trust yourself to take careful and deliberate actions when trading, transferring, purchasing, staking, or bidding. You must trust yourself to follow the income tax laws of your country, realizing that while only you can hold yourself responsible, others will certainly hold you accountable.

Be a Watchdog

We understand that there will always be those who take advantage of anything with value. Become vigilant. Pay attention to the actions of those around you. Help your early adopter peers by watching their backs. These impersonators, imposters, fishers, and frauds will always pollute the most successful blockchain communities, but their power will be continually reduced as Web3 evolves toward its true potential. There is a constant battle between those here to earn rewards in the correct, established ways and those here to earn by taking from others.

Reacting to Dishonesty

Try not to harshly judge the ones who would steal from you. It is impossible to know enough about their lives and situations to pass such judgment. Instead, accept their existence as a reality of this industry and do everything in your power to keep yourself and those you care about from being tricked.

The most successful movers in the Web3 space are those who can always persevere, even in the face of risks and scams.

Instead of ganging up on swindlers in a way that gives them more of our attention than they deserve, focus on protecting yourself and your fellow community members through open communication. If you can master this practice, frustrations over which you have no control will roll easily off your back, and every attempted trick will turn into a positive learning experience. That’s making sweet and delicious lemonade out of some bitter lemons.

Scammers and cheaters are not going anywhere, but the more players we can empower throughout the world, the fewer people will be driven to these types of malicious activities. Doesn’t it feel good to be part of the solution for deception?

Within the Gala Games team, there are ongoing and passionate conversations about the importance of building a road for our growing community that is always safer and straighter than the one before.

Upcoming Papers

This article is merely an introduction to the Guardian Papers series, which will be published over the coming weeks and months to ensure the information is available to all newcomers to the Gala Games community. Each relatively short article will have the intention of raising awareness to a specific security concern, but these articles are far from the whole story. We encourage every one of you to always stay vigilant and informed, and please, do your own research.

We’ll even have an issue about what it means to “do your own research.” Stay tuned.

Freedom in Web3 Gaming

Freedom in Web3 Gaming

Let’s talk about one of our most important values: Freedom

The decentralized gaming world we’re creating at Gala Games brings you a greater degree of freedom as a gamer than you have ever known. Your ability to list and sell digital assets on the secondary market is massively important, but what we’re working toward goes way beyond just the freedom to sell.

Let’s explore what freedom means to Gala Games, in terms of our mission to empower the gamers of the world. We’re gamers ourselves, and freedom is why we’re building an entire Web3 gaming Ecosystem, instead of just a few games.

Owning vs Not Owning

Let’s say back in the nineties you purchased a cartridge video game, played it for a little while, then got tired of the game. You had a couple options. You could try to trade with a friend for one of their worn-out games. You could put it away in a box for future generations, accepting the fact that you’ll never see that 50–70 bucks again. You could even try your luck at the local pawn shop or second-hand store, where they’d give you pennies on the dollar for what they‘d’ turn right around and sell for 75% of retail as “lightly used.”

Although it’s easy to look back on those days and remember the good times, gamers were a long, long way from truly owning their assets. This is evident in the near impossibility to get any future cash value out of your game “ownership.” Remember that in those days, to “own” a game simply meant that you had the ability to play it whenever you wanted, provided that you had the appropriate console, TV and accessories.

Remember the old dime-a-dozen conversation with schoolmates? “Have you ever played Game X?” they would say.

“Played it? I own it,” you’d reply.

That was never real ownership. In fact, we had the wrong idea of ownership entirely. We never should have assumed that the ability to enjoy a game experience meant that we somehow “owned” that game. Until players could transfer and trade the items from the games (not the games themselves), they could never be truly empowered through ownership.

It’s been a long road to gaming ownership, but now thanks to Web3 tech, the path ahead is much clearer than it was in the cartridge days.

What is Freedom?

We preach a lot about lofty conceptual ideas like freedom and empowerment, but what does it really mean to maximize gamers’ freedom?

Freedom is about readiness. The more freedom you have, the more ready you are to go with the flow, pursue your goals, and achieve your dreams.

Freedom is the thing that allows you to move forward unencumbered, to grow and change. The more freedom you have, the easier growth becomes.

from the Oxford English Dictionary

Gala Games Freedoms

Freedom to Play

The earliest days of video games created a stigma that gaming was a non-value pastime at best, but we are overturning these generational preconceptions at last. People all over the world who were unwilling to give themselves time to play are now realizing that thanks to various incentives and rewards, playtime is back.

Gaming is not just for kids anymore. In fact, it never was. We are playful creatures, and the idea that we are supposed to “grow out” of playing by our teenage years is not only incorrect, but rather heartbreaking.

Freedom to Play Free

The games we are developing at Gala Games are AAA quality, built by some of the most experienced and skilled people in the industry. Still, many of these games will offer players a way to enjoy the game with no purchase obligations. How is this possible? It’s all part of the freedom of Web3.

The more traditional mobile free to play, in-app purchases game model relies on a certain portion of free players enjoying the game to the point of upgrading their experience at their own cost. In a similar fashion, Gala Games can work with top developers to create extremely high quality games with options for free players to enjoy.

Thanks to the early support of those who wish to own in-game items for in-development projects, we can create the highest quality free gaming experiences the world has ever seen.*

*NOTE: Not all Gala Games will always be free to play.

Freedom to Own

By building gaming ecosystems around player ownership of scarce in-game assets, we can level up the freedom of every single member of our community. They are no longer simply players and supporters; they now have the option to become owners.

Being owners in this way does not mean that you literally “own” a portion of the company or the game. It simply means that you own what’s yours, and for the first time ever in video games. You earn it, it’s yours. You buy it, it’s yours. You work hard to upgrade it over dozens of campaigns, it’s yours. We’re pretty proud of this aspect of what we do.

Freedom to Earn Rewards

How are we so confident in our games that we’re able to give you total freedom to own and sell your items on secondary markets? The root of that confidence is in the reward-based gaming economies we create. They are multi-layered webs of gamifications, incentives, and rewards that ensure your decision of whether to keep or list for sale will almost always be a tough one.

There are lots of different perspectives from which you can experience and enjoy the Gala Games Ecosystem, and they come with different levels of potential rewards and unique opportunities.

Freedom to Sell

Finally, the ability to sell your in-game items on peer-to-peer secondary markets lives at the core of the Web3 freedom we hope to provide the gamers of the world.

You’ll find a game that you absolutely love (probably more than one) in the Gala Games Ecosystem. You’ll put your time and energy into following the development progress, honing your skills, and exploring your reward opportunities. You may even decide to purchase in-game property for that game. Once you have taken that leap into ownership, you have leveled up your freedom as a gamer.

You may be able to use your purchased item for in-game advantages or to unlock rewards for playing. In some games, you can even allow free players to use your property (sharing some rewards with you, of course). Most importantly though, you can take your asset to a secondary marketplace like OpenSea and list it for sale whenever you want. The freedom to sell is always yours.

Freedom to sell is freedom from commitment. Let’s say you buy an asset for your favorite Gala Game, then use it for a while to enhance your reward potential. Suppose a few months later a new game shows up that you’ve got to try, and you’re ready for something new. You can list your in-game item on the secondary marketplace, and if it sells, there’s your spending money to make some asset purchases for the new game.*

*NOTE: Gala Games does not predict, control or speculate on secondary market pricing of in-game items. Listing items for sale never guarantees sale.

With Gala Games, you’re absolutely free to game on your terms. We have dozens of AAA quality games in development, and every one of them has all the empowerment and freedom of Web3.

We’re glad you’re here. Stick around. Play a while.

The Importance of Audits

With technology moving as rapidly as Web3, it’s important for smart contracts to be heavily scrutinized by professionals such as the ones we trust at Anchain.AI.

While decentralization plays a huge role in the Web3 future we’re creating together, it also brings its own special risks. Blockchain transactions typically cannot be undone, and they allow users the freedom to move large quantities of assets quickly. Small vulnerabilities in a smart contract may not be discovered for years. Regardless of when they are discovered, even the smallest weakness can be devastating if exploited by a bad actor.

At Gala Games, we understand the importance of security and the risks of developing in the Web3 space, so we take the time and energy necessary to build our smart contracts right. Then, tapping on the experts at Anchain, we confirm the contracts are as secure as possible.

$GALA Contract Audit Report

Anchain.AI

Anchain is an AI-powered cybersecurity company enhancing blockchain security, risk, and compliance strategies. They specialize in thorough reviews and audits of smart contracts, blockchains and cryptocurrencies, serving hundreds of clients worldwide, and securing over $100 Billion in daily transaction volume. Basically, when Anchain puts their stamp of approval on a contract, the industry sees it as an undisputed sign of security and legitimacy.

Said Dr. Victor Fang, CEO & Co-founder of AnChain.AI, of the auditing process, “Since 2018, the AnChain.AI has been relied upon by both traditional financial institutions, leading DeFi projects, and even government regulators to certify the security of some of the world’s highest-traffic smart contracts. Gala Games’ proactive approach to securing their smart contracts and commitment to protecting their users has been evident since our first conversation. Our auditing team’s efforts are made all the more effective by the Gala Games team’s meticulous approach to resolving even the most minor vulnerabilities discovered in the auditing process.”

It’s already been a long and adventurous road for Gala Games, and with over a dozen Web3 games in development, we’re just getting started.

Imagine your own world of gaming, where you have more power and control over your experiences than ever before. Gone are the days when you committed to a small number of games upon which you were left sitting once the enjoyment wore away. Web3 gives you the freedom to play it all, choose what to own, and strategically maximize your rewards. Finally, if the enjoyment ever wears away (unlikely), you can just list your in game assets on the secondary market and start with a whole new game.

We’re building a Web3 home for all gamers, and we’re glad you’re here to share in the adventure with us!
