Gala Games Integrates Chainlink VRF to Access Verifiable Randomness in NFT Drops

Gala Games Integrates Chainlink VRF to Access Verifiable Randomness in NFT Drops

Chainlink’s Verifiable Random Function will be used by Gala Games to ensure fun and fair gameplay.

We’re excited to announce that Gala Games has integrated Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) on Ethereum mainnet. By integrating the industry-leading decentralized oracle network, we now have access to a tamper-proof and verifiable random number generator (RNG) that can help power truly random VOX drops and item distribution from Snoop Stash Boxes. Additionally, as the Gala Games Ecosystem and metaverse accelerates, Chainlink VRF acts as a future-proof source of randomness needed for all RNG-based functions — giving users high assurances that Gala Games is committed to creating fun and fair gameplay.

Gala Games aims to build an Ecosystem of AAA games that can bring blockchain-based Web3 games to the mainstream. Our core philosophy can be boiled down to three essential elements:

  1. Games First — We are gamers first, and we believe that an incredible gaming experience is an absolute necessity, especially when pioneering into the world of Web3 gaming. That’s why we have centuries of AAA gaming experience on our team.
  2. Owned by Players — Hard work should result in equivalent rewards, so many items earned or won in Gala Games will always belong to the players as blockchain-minted tokens. Ownership means the freedom to play and earn with, or even sell your assets when you choose.
  3. Community Rules — Games can not be created in a vacuum. Gala Games builds and updates games based on real time community and player feedback. We practice open communication and transparency, and we always listen to our community.

In order to build a true player-owned Ecosystem, we needed access to a verifiable random number generator that could help power the fair distribution of in-game rewards. Whether in loot boxes or other events that require randomness such as dungeon drops or player performance rewards, a verifiable RNG gives users confidence that the game they’re playing is fair and treats all players equally.

The ultimate solution to this problem comes in the form of Chainlink VRF, which works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. Gala Games smart contracts will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This helps provide users with automated and publicly verifiable proof directly on-chain that each randomness-needing game that uses Chainlink VRF for randomness is provably fair and cannot be tampered with or predicted by the oracle, outside entities, or the Gala Games team.

“Chainlink VRF has proved itself as the standard for verifiable random number generation. As a result of this integration, players can traverse our extensive game Ecosystem with confidence that our team is dedicated to creating a fun and fair environment for all.”

— the Gala Games team.

Galaxian Highlights | #1 | Sages of the Red Flame

Galaxian Highlights | #1 | Sages of the Red Flame

Take a look into some of the brilliant minds behind our incredible frontline hospitality force. These folks know stuff.

There are a lot of great people on the Gala Games team that make this the fantastic community that it is. Many of us here interact with the community all the time, but rarely get the chance to connect without hiding behind handles and the (often insane) day to day business of serving up the community with great entertainment experiences.

Galaxian Highlights

This begins to change all that. We’ve previously started to spotlight experts on our team, but we’ve experienced such meteoric growth in the past year that we simply weren’t able to keep up with the talented and wonderful people joining our team every day.

Gala Games is still growing, and we’re not going to get any further ahead on showcasing the people who make this community possible unless we get started. We’ll be regularly running this series in the future to introduce you to some of the folks whose work you may interact with every day, but you don’t even know that you know them.

In this first edition, we’ll be showcasing the defenders of our community– The Sages of the Red Flame

Sages of the What!?

Sages of the Red Flame– or alternatively (and lamely) named “Community Managers” — leverage passion and experience for the Gala Games Ecosystem and Community. They are the community’s go-to connection between what goes on under the hood and in the driver’s seat of games on our platform.

For our introductory edition, this will be a bit longer installment of Galaxian Highlights. Typically we’ll use these series to focus on individuals, but it’s only fitting for this re-inaugural issue that The Sages of the Red Flame lead the charge together, united.

What is your role as a Gala Games Community Sage?

Dillon (NephilimHoss): I’ve been in the Gala Games community since January 2021, but started as Community Manager in November (my start date was my birthday!)

My job is to oversee the Discord, serve as a liaison for the community members and Gala Games teams, and to make sure the passion that we all feel for the Gala Games community is intentionally nurtured and protected.

Cade (Cayde): I spend most of my day reading every channel in the Discord and conversing with the community.

I’m always looking for ways to improve communication between the teams and the community, as well as finding new ways to get the community engaged. I also like crafting puzzles for people to solve 🙂

Vera (VeraAwesome): My role is to be in service to the community. This means doing my best to keep it a high-vibe and friendly place, and making sure that community feedback is heard.

I like to answer as many questions as I can as fast as I can because I’m trying to convince people that I’m actually a bot.

Michelle (pharmermichelle): I strive to be that main line of communication between the greater community and the Town Star game team.

I spend most of my time gathering feedback and sentiment to report back to the engineers, developers, and project managers. I’m here to give the community a voice within the team meetings and to make sure everyone is heard.

Matt (taco): Gala Music is still a new business, so as the music community manager I’m helping the server grow as positively as possible, answering questions and keeping everyone informed.

I’ve been an active part of the discord for quite a while, and now I want everyone to feel as welcome as I did when I first discovered Gala Games. I also represent the community “behind the scenes”, since at the end of the day it’s all about them.

Tom (curioushero): With a high-octane game like Spider Tanks comes a passionate player base that wants their ideas to be heard and implemented. My role is to be the conduit between the players and the people who make the games happen.

I develop relationships with the players by regularly competing with them in game and taking their feedback to help improve the game. As a veteran player in the community I can also help the team understand what potential players want to get out of the game so we can make a better experience all around.

Note: Cade actually has moved to our Product Team since the inception of this article. You’ll still catch him all over Discord, but we wanted to congratulate him on this new position!

Dillon’s Note: Cade defected from the CM team between the writing and publication of this article. Please send all complaints directly to him.

What skills or experience do you bring to Gala Games?

Dillon: I truly love this Community. The things we can accomplish with Web3, gaming and beyond are bigger than we imagine. I aim to bring a balanced perspective and a long-term vision to the Community. How we do things is often as important as what we do.

Vera: My love of Gala Games has given me the superpower of having a fangirl Wikipedia brain. This helps me to stay organized with all the juicy leaks coming out and also to keep track of the promises made to the community.

Note: The plural of VOX is definitely VOX. Vera knows that now.

Matt: Most of my career has been spent in management and customer service, so I’m thrilled to be able to to utilize that experience within a community I genuinely enjoy being a part of.

Tom: I have a diversified background in business that spans over 20 years in tech support, networking, finance, and marketing. The last decade I’ve spent building online businesses that focus on lead generation, customer acquisition, and building raving fans for the products or services I represented. Gala Games and Web3 have created an incredible opportunity for me to help the company and community all succeed.

Why did you pick your Galaxian adventurer title?

Most of us at Gala Games use an “adventurer title” for our job description. These are often a more fitting indicator of what we do and where our expertise lies than some boring corporate label.

Dillon: As an Oath of Ancients Paladin I have an enduring love for natural beauty, light, and harmony. It is my duty to turn back threats against transcendent good with vigilant warding and loyal vehemence. The Red Flame that inflicts holy burns also gently illuminates, for those who seek light.

Michelle: As Town Star Bard I spread the news of happenings in and around Town Star, tossing out Bardic Inspiration as often as I can.

Vera: I am a White Mage. White Mages are timeless, powerful, and wise. The healing arts are very important to me as a seeker of truth, high magic and beauty.

Tom: I choose Spider Tanks Community Samurai as my Galaxian title. The word samurai originally meant “one who serves”. Samurai live by a code of conduct — known as “bushido”, and I figure that’s a good representation of what I do for the community, Gala Games and Gamedia.

Favorite music?

Michelle: If I had to pick a favorite genre of music, which is tough because I love music, it’d be melodic metal. Although if I had to list my top 3 favorite albums to listen to front to back, it’d be a toss up between “You’d Prefer an Astronaut” by HUM, Blink 182’s self titled album, and “As Daylight Dies” by Killswitch Engage.

Matt: I’m excited about being a bigger part of the music community because I love so many different genres. Indie rock like Neutral Milk Hotel, The Mountain Goats and The Weakerthans.. “Stomp and Holler” like the Lumineers and Shovels and Rope.. but I’m just as likely to be listening to Miley, Jay-Z, or Missy Elliott. My first concert was Vanilla Ice and En Vogue opening for MC Hammer.

What are your favorite games?

Cade: My favorite games tend to be FPS and MMORPGs. I was hooked on Counter Strike 1.6 and played competitively when I was 14. Nowadays I enjoy Destiny and whatever FPS my friends are playing at the time. I’m also proud to have a maxed RuneScape character that I’ve been playing off and on for the past 17 years.

Vera: My favorite genres to play are simulation, strategy, and RPG games. Some of my favorites of all time include The Sims, Warlords (DOS), Alter Ego (Commodore 64), Two Point Hospital, Project Highrise, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. For music, I enjoy pop, goth, and everything in between.

Favorite food?

Dillon: I’ll eat anything spicy. If you aren’t crying it can use more heat. Spicy seafood is bliss.

Tom: Pepperoni pizza for me.

Vera: Team Pizza all the way! If my life ever depended on eating a pizza every day to live, I would be immortal.

Touché, Vera

Any other cool hobbies or interests?

Michelle: Gardening. Although I’m not that great at it, so maybe I just enjoy playing in the dirt. 😂

Cade: I’m big into mechanical keyboards and anything auto racing, especially Formula 1. I also love playing basketball and watching my college team, Iowa State

Tom: I enjoy playing golf, surfing, snowboarding, scuba and being a dad.

Matt: Prior to getting a job working here, my biggest hobby was Gala Games. I’m transitioning from being a professional photographer, so that will always be a part of my life. I love going to flea markets with my wife and visiting new breweries.

Vera: Besides playing video games, I also enjoy journaling, writing, meditating, and going swimming.

Which SpiderTanks hat best describes you?

Dillon: Obviously the cowboy hat, y’all.

Vera: The cheese hat, because cheese makes everything better!

Tom: Roman plume… because, when in Rome!

Matt: The taco hat. Wait, there isn’t a taco hat? That’s a shame.

Which EoE faction would you align with?

Cade: The Royals. I love their aesthetics and lore. An ancient ruling party full of rich history and drama is too fascinating to me.

Vera: The Arbeiters. Personal independence is very important!

Which Town Star character could you replace, if only you were given the chance?

Michelle: I relate most to the Water Facility worker. He collects all that messy pond/river water, cleans it up and packages it in a nice barrel so those industrial workers can focus on making energy/gasoline and mining those hard metals. Just like I try to take the collective thoughts of the community, package it up nice and pretty, and hand it off to the Town Star team so they can keep on working to make Town Star awesome!

Vera: The Rancher. She looks like she has the most fun when she walks.

Tom: Tractor Farmer. I like to drive in the dirt.

Matt: Trucker for sure. I love the old movies (and music) from 70’s trucker culture.

Which Exemplar best fits who you are?

Dillon: A mix of Longhunt (what is sleep?), Clearblood (poisons are cool, subtle, and totally safe to drink), and Darksun (the night makes me feel alive).

Cade: Neverlook Halfling. I’m a major Elder Scrolls fan and I’ve always been one to master sneaking first so I can steal everything from the Imperial City and collect copious amounts of random items.

Vera: The Alchemist. Every problem has a solution. Being prepared with an arsenal of magical potions that are ready to be used seems like the most fun way to solve problems. Plus, you can never use too much glitter when preparing a magical potion!

Huge thanks to Dillon, Michelle, Cade, Vera, Matt and Tom for sharing their insights in our first edition of Galaxian Highlights.

As we build the Gala Games Ecosystem into a leading global force in Web3 entertainment, community always lives at the heart of everything we do. You empower us, we empower you, and together we build a community that will always grow stronger.

Eternal Paradox: AMA Recap

Eternal Paradox: AMA Recap

The new Gala Games title’s devs gather to answer questions from the community about their RPG project!

The team from NTROi held an AMA this morning about Eternal Paradox, a new 4X/RPG in late development with a planned release by the end of 2022. As NTROi is a Korean studio, the AMA itself was conducted in Korean. In case you missed the AMA itself or just need some translated highlights, fear not! We’ve got your back.

Introducing NTROi

NTROi is a development studio under NDREAM, which has put out Oceans & Empires, Pirates of the Caribbean, The War of Genesis, and Crossfire Warzone. During the AMA we met two of the producers for some of those games: Jaejun Song and Wonsuk Kwon.

About Eternal Paradox

Hearing about the game directly from the developers is always the best way to get the info as a player. You can hear how enthusiastic they are and how much passion they have for their game. That was our big takeaway, but for those of you who are all about that juicy information, here’s everything you’re after.

Eternal Paradox is a turn-based RPG where you build a band of mercenaries to fight for you. You can also build and grow your own castle over time to prepare for battles. Eternal Paradox combines a 4X Strategy Game with turn-based RPG genre in a unique and exciting way.

It is a turn-based RPG. We have a few interesting Mercenary characters. It will feature intro battles, adventure mode, arena, and guild arena systems.

You will grow your Castles and go into the Fields. You will interact with many players — your friends and enemies. The ultimate goal is to conquer the Battle for the Ring of Ruin.

-Jaejun Song, NTROi

The game will have a season-based structure culminating in a massive battle to close out each season. This will be a battle to control The Ring of Ruin– a mysterious object with the potential to doom the world. Players will fight to control it for ultimate rewards and greatest accomplishment in the game.

Speaking of Rewards

Eternal Paradox will be a full on Web3 game built on Gala Games’ new proprietary blockchain. P2E rewards will be seasonal, and Land NFTs can provide mutually beneficial rewards to owners and residents.

The game will start with four basic Mercenaries, but the team hopes to have up to 20 available including NFT Heroes at launch. The plan is to start with 5 characters from each family– or kin.

Each Mercenary will be a part of one of four distinct kins. At the moment each of these groups of kin roughly translate to: Breath of the Wind, Pirates, Guardian Angels and Wanderers. The developers have also planned for building and skin NFTs to be used in your Castle, but Heroes and Land will come first.

Gameplay and Development

The team expects to have Eternal Paradox out by the end of 2022 on as many platforms as they can. They also plan to have multiple servers so they can host asynchronous content and intend to host guild-level battles across the multiple servers.

Both PvP and PvE are in the works. And with all the options available, if you wanted to play diplomatically or act only in a support role for your guild mates, you can play Eternal Paradox that way as well. Quests and Missions will also be presented for players to gain bonuses and experience for their mercenaries.

Now that everyone is acquainted, NTROi would like to get more engagement and information from the community. While the team can’t guarantee anything quite yet, they are hopeful to have multiple playtests before release.

We know the importance of playtests, so we hope to often have multiple playtests to test different themes. We can’t commit a specific date yet or share too much detail right now, but considering our plan is to officially launch the game by the end of year… I’ll stop here…

-Jaejun Song, NTROi

The World of Eternal Paradox

There is a lot to get into for this game, but we’ll try to give you the basic rundown.

The Ring of Ruin lies at the center of Elysium. With the death of Karl the Timetraveler, the rings began to spin again. Karl left a prophecy though– “When The Ring stops spinning, the world will face destruction.”

Every 63 days The Ring slows and threatens to stop. There is great power in The Ring, and as players compete for that power, someone must rise to unlock The Ring’s secrets and use its power to turn back time.

This is where Eternal Paradox’s seasons come in. Elysium is literally locked in eternal struggle.

The Ring holds the story behind the reason why Karl started time traveling. Players will have to find pieces of the lore and figure it out themselves

-Wonsuk Kwon, NTROi

NFTs and Blockchain Elements

Eternal Paradox NFTs are currently planned in three forms:

  • Land
  • Heroes
  • Castle Buildings/Skins

Balance, as always, will be the trickiest thing for any developer to tackle. Eternal Paradox’s team is prioritizing getting balance right by ensuring any free players or those with less rare NFTs can be competitive by focusing and outplaying the competition.

Frequent logins and doing all of your missions each day should have a large cumulative effect on your progression through the game. Those with Eternal Paradox NFTs will potentially benefit from them, but the development team wanted to make sure this benefits were never overwhelming to other players.

Watch the AMA stream!

The Final Words

To wrap it up nicely here, Eternal Paradox is a hybrid Turn-Based RPG/4x game that reinvents familiar genres in an exciting new way. The expert developers at NTROi hopes to release Eternal Paradox by the end of 2022 should all go as planned.

With Galaverse approaching, there’s sure to be much more news coming up. Look out tomorrow for a Founder’s Node Proposal and a 24-hour consensus vote for Node operators beginning at 2pm PT.

Welcome to Eternal Paradox

Welcome to Eternal Paradox

Eternal Paradox is a hybrid 4X/RPG coming soon to Gala Games.

The Ring of Ruin has begun to spin once more, as memories fade and new memories are made. Mercenaries begin to gather; guilds begin to form. The Lands of Elysium brace for another conflict.

With only 9 weeks to prepare, every guild, every Mercenary, every person living in the world of Eternal Paradox needs somewhere to call home. Somewhere to grow stronger, to rest after their conflicts, and to produce the resources required to overcome the trials, tribulations, and conflicts that the coming battle brings.

This is Eternal Paradox. Train your Mercenaries, explore the world, develop your castle, and become the legend that will save us. In Eternal Paradox, players are locked in an eternal struggle for the fate of the world. Can you conquer the Ring of Ruin at the key moment to begin the cycle anew and save the world?

A Hybrid RPG-4X Experience

Eternal Paradox follows the standard 4X basics: Explore, Exploit, Expand, and Exterminate. One major difference is the addition of RPG-style turn-based combat. This blend of two genres makes Eternal Paradox especially interesting.

Once every nine weeks, the Battle for the Ring of Ruin will commence once more. With 20 Mercenaries at launch to collect and train, players will need to strengthen their fighters by running daily missions, participating in PVP, and competing in the arena.

These activities will also earn you Silver Points, which will set your rank. Higher ranks can potentially earn more EPX token rewards. Winning The Battle of the Ring is the ultimate goal each nine weeks, and can earn you a massive EPX prize.

The Very Land Itself

Players can own the NFT Land and allow other players to build their castle as tenants. Owners need to manage and develop their land and choose a buff to provide to all residents to make it a better place to live. You will earn the Silver points based on the resources gained by your tenants.

Land NFTs will come in 6 rarities. Each piece of land will have a number of plots available for players to build their castles on. In addition to controlling the Land itself, owning the Land will allow an owner to set what bonus is given to their tenants. More will be released about these bonuses in the future, but these bonuses can make your land very attractive for other players to live on.

The choice of where to build your castle will be a crucial one. The closer a piece of land is to the crater located in the middle of each section on the map, the higher the rarity will be. This means that not only will higher tiers of land offer more benefits for their owners and residents, but they’ll also be closer to the center of true power on the continent.

As The Ring of Ruin continues to spin, the world will continue to move forward. So manage your lands, build your castles, and train your mercenaries, but know that when the time comes, battle will be joined. Will you be ready?

Ask the Devs Anything

May 25th at 6am PT (10pm KST) the Dev Team will be holding an AMA on YouTube. You can check it out on the YouTube link below. This will be a Korean language AMA, but we will be translating the team’s comments into English live on Discord during the event.

This is the place to ask those questions about what bonuses the land will give to players and how owners and tenants will interact. Mercenaries, who will they be? What do they do? What exactly is the Ring of Ruin? After the Eternal Paradox team digs into all the questions from the community, we will formally put forth a Founder’s Node Proposal for Eternal Paradox to officially join the Gala Games Ecosystem.

Remember, they asked you to ask anything. Have all those questions ready, and we will see you at the AMA to learn more about Eternal Paradox.

Note: Eternal Paradox is still pending approval of the Founder’s Node Network.

The MAYhem Continues! | Week 3 Recap

The MAYhem Continues! | Week 3 Recap

Gala Games is giving away millions in prizes in our most rewarding month yet!

So Much Mayhem, So Little Time Left!

We are now well over halfway through May and that means you are running out of time to GET IN on the MAYHEM. Just in case you haven’t jumped in yet, let’s give you an idea of the awesome stuff you missed out on, and the even more awesome stuff coming.

Total MAYhem

The third week of May Mayhem is now behind us and just shy of another nearly million dollars’ worth of prizes have been churned out to the winners in the Town Star and Spider Tanks competitions. Here are some highlights:

Spider Tanks Competition ended May 23rd.

  • Spider Tanks Referrers earned $135k for the week between all those who qualified
  • Spider Tanks Competitors won $250k for the week

Town Star Competition ended May 20th.

  • Town Star Competitors won ~$450k

Town Crush

Town Crush got a little too excited for the mayhem and had to be detained for a short time. Town Crush is a test drive of our native blockchain in development, so occasionally unforeseen issues pop up– that’s the point of testing!

Look at Town Crush as a way to extend this year’s Mayhem. Town Crush’s competition will go on as planned (even if a little delayed) after May is behind us when the game returns. The entire $400,000 worth of $GALA in the prize pool will still be available, as well as those bonus Eggsecutioners for Egg Storage NFTs that you own.

Remember, the rewards from this competition will only be for members of Gala Gold. If you’ve been thinking about going Gold, what are you waiting for?

Keep the MAYhem Going

A fresh Town Star competition server started up fresh this morning for you to test your production capability versus all your neighbours.

The P2E server runs for two weeks at a time, so it isn’t resetting this week. There’s still time to jump in there as well before $140,000 in prizes are handed out on the P2E servers at the end of next week. The six players from each server with the most Uniforms sold from May 25th at 9am PT through May 31st at 9am PT will be awarded an equal portion of the total $140,000 prize.

The final May Mayhem Town Star competition began this morning May 24th at 10am PT.

The fourth Spider Tanks May Mayhem competition has been postponed until after Galaverse. After hearing your feedback it was clear that the community wanted a different competition, so we’ve postponed it to regroup and deliver something better.

The current plan is to craft a bracketed tournament with $250,000 in prizes, but this is not set in stone. We’ll keep you updated as we figure out exactly when this tournament will happen.

The $150,000 in rewards for the referral challenge, however, will continue as planned through May 30th at 9am PT.

Free NFTs

A Golden Ticket was sent to all holders and purchasers of any Mirandus item!

A Cookery NFT for The Walking Dead: Empires was sent to all Dead Claim owners!

As we mentioned last week, you still have time before the end of May to earn a free Flour Storage NFT. Everyone who plays Town Star at least three days this May will get shipped this sweet extra storage during June.

Keep your eyes peeled for more free NFT drops coming as the last days of the Mayhem approach. You know that we aren’t going to let this end quietly, right?

The Feed Bot referral contest still has a week left, only 10 referrals to Town Star gives you a faithful metal friend to feed all those animals you’ve been hoarding without you ever lifting a finger. Think of the time you’ll save!

YOU get some MAYhem, and YOU get some MAYhem!!!

We can’t MAYntain this pace for long. Only one week remains for you to jump in and make some of your own MAYHEM.

If you haven’t jumped back into Town Star, Spider Tanks, or Gala Games in general… MAYbe it’s time you MAYke your way back in before the end of MAY MAYHEM!
