GalaSwap Liquidity Pools Are Evolving: Get Ready for V2

Updated software, improved APIs and faster performance for GalaSwap liquidity pools.

GalaSwap is preparing to move its liquidity pools to V2, bringing updated software, quality-of-life improvements, improved APIs and faster performance to the platform.

For most users, the GalaSwap experience will remain familiar. The V2 pools will continue to support the same token pairs and fee structures as their V1 counterparts.

For liquidity providers, however, there is an important action to take.

If you currently have liquidity in a V1 pool, you will need to remove your existing position and create a new position in the corresponding V2 pool.

What is changing?

All current GalaSwap liquidity pools are being upgraded to V2.

The update improves the underlying pool software and provides a stronger technical foundation for GalaSwap, including:

  • Updated pool software
  • Faster performance
  • Improved APIs
  • Quality-of-life improvements

The goal is to improve how GalaSwap operates while keeping the core liquidity experience familiar.

GalaSwap will continue to operate as a decentralized exchange built on GalaChain, where liquidity positions and swaps are managed through users’ own wallets.

What do liquidity providers need to do?

If you currently provide liquidity through a V1 pool, you should move your position to V2.

The process involves two steps:

  1. Remove your liquidity from the V1 pool.
  2. Create a new position in the corresponding V2 pool if you want to continue providing liquidity.

Positions will not be automatically transferred from V1 to V2.

Standard GalaChain transaction fees will apply when completing these on-chain actions.

What happens to V1 pools?

There will be a transition period during which both V1 and V2 pools will be available on GalaSwap.

This gives liquidity providers time to remove their V1 positions and recreate them in V2.

The exact transition timeline will be announced separately.

At the end of the transition period, V1 pools will stop receiving trades and become withdrawal-only.

Once trading stops in a V1 pool, liquidity remaining in that pool will no longer generate trading fees because swaps will no longer take place there.

Users will still be able to withdraw their liquidity from V1 pools after they become withdrawal-only.

What about swaps?

No swap downtime is expected as part of the transition.

If you simply use GalaSwap to swap tokens and do not currently provide liquidity, no migration action is required from you.

Get ready for GalaSwap V2 pools

V2 liquidity pools represent the next step in the continued development of GalaSwap.

If you currently provide liquidity, keep an eye on upcoming announcements for the transition dates and make sure your positions are ready to move from V1 to V2.
