Over the last several weeks preparing for launch, we’ve shared a bunch of Legacy excitement, so check out the blogs below to catch up on anything you might have missed!

Launch Date Announcement
Legacy Deeds and Keys
Legacy Events

The release of the Litepaper has been slightly delayed, but we expect that it will be out before the end of Launch day.

Shortly following launch, we’ll share an FAQ blog with the most popular questions asked by the existing Gala Games community and new players. Our community always asks great questions, and they almost always catch a couple of important ones that weren’t clarified enough prior to launch. Bottom line: We want you all equipped for Legacy success!

Choose a Key

Unless you own Legacy Land, the very first thing you’ll want to do in the game is choose a Legacy Key from the list of available Keys. Be sure to choose a Guild that suits your interests and strategies, because the Guild leader will have the ability to remove your Key and boot you from their Guild if they think they can do better with another Key Player.

Configure Your Guild

If you own Legacy Land, congratulations, You’re a Guild owner! Once you have bridged your Land Deed from Ethereum to GalaChain (you can do this through your Gala Games account inventory–It will cost ETH network fees to make this transaction). If you wait to configure your Land, you could be missing out on rewards from day one. Plus, you’ll deprive some awesome Key Player of an amazing opportunity.

Please note that Common Land Deeds by default do NOT include any Legacy Keys, but the ability to purchase and add one to your Guild will soon be available. For now, you’re a one-person Guild, so make it count!

Let the Competitions Begin!

Now that the game is live, it’s time for Guild Leaders and Key Players alike to put their creativity, innovation and strategy to the test!

Once you’re in the game, check out the Events tab to explore current competitions and decide which is best for your skill level. You can choose from Most Profit, Most Sales, or the community-voted Design Competitions. Now check out the valuable advice from the 22cans team below!

Tommy’s Top Tips for Legacy Events

Here are some handy starter tips for the Most Sales and Most Profit Events!

There are three areas of focus for a successful event run:

  • The layout of your town
  • Designing the right product
  • Preparing for a specific event

Optimizing the layout of your town is crucial for both event types. Think about the location of your production building doorways in relation to each other as well as the locations of distribution buildings, and the resting places of your workers. The closer all these things are, the faster your production line.

Note: Have a good look at the locked districts! Some of them come with extra buildings, securing the right ones early on will give you a serious edge over those who have not (think what a second Dispatch Van will do for you, or another Warehouse…).

Designing the right product

When designing a product, you need to consider the event you are entering. For a Most Sales event, you’ll want a simple product that your workers can produce quickly. Making a one-part product might sell for next to nothing, but it will get made super fast, and that’s what matters. Keep an eye on the market value though, as one-part products don’t last long and you do not want your workers sitting idle and waiting for you to redesign while the clock ticks down. Red balloons over the factory are your number one priority at all times.

For Most Profit events, a little bit more planning is advised. Organize the value of each product part in price order, starting with the highest paying. Use ALL available part slots to maximize the product’s value. Researching more valuable parts in the Research Lab is a big help, but adding the most expensive parts isn’t always the best idea; you must also consider the time it takes to create each part. Experiment outside of the event to find the best possible combo of parts in your drawers.

Preparing for an Event

There’s a short window of opportunity between the announcement of an incoming event and its starting time. Use this wisely. If you have a Warehouse, fill it to the gills with refined resources so you’re ready to drag and drop into the Factory as soon as the event begins. You can set each production building to deliver to certain places, so set your Refineries and Smelters to send the workers to the Warehouse.

A fully charged workforce is a little sneaky tip most people won’t think about. Halting production and sending everyone home (or down to the Pub or into any of the Leisure buildings) so that they’re fresh and ready for the event start means you’ll have that extra juice in the can compared to those business owners who drive their teams hard all day and all night.

Don’t forget to start production off in each building again once the event starts, or all your hard work in preparing will be wasted!

And that’s it — you now have what it takes to become a legendary player in Legacy.

What are you Waiting for?

A bunch of eager entrepreneurs are already hitting the Legacy streets, building the beginnings of their business empires. Join them!

Calling all Legacy Land Owners!

Calling all Legacy Land Owners!

It’s time to bridge your Land Deeds to GalaChain to get a head start in preparing your Guild!

Attention Legacy Land owners… Legacy wants YOU!

As outlined in this blog, Legacy Deed ownership means that you get to manage a Guild of players. You’re the benefactor for the aspiring non-owner players who will use your Legacy Keys to unlock access to the game and its rewards. The best part is that as the business owner, you’ll share in the Event rewards of everyone in your Guild!

Bridge Your Deed

All Land Deeds were sold as minted items on the Ethereum blockchain, but now it’s time to call them home to GalaChain, where they can empower players throughout the Gala Games ecosystem.

Bridging is now open, and next Tuesday morning you’ll have the ability to set up your Guild in advance of the Thursday rush. While gameplay will not yet be live in this exclusive owner access period, owners will have a chance to set up their Guilds in advance.

They’re Ready to Play–Don’t Make Them Wait

Remember that player access to Legacy requires either a Legacy Key or a Legacy Land Deed. This means that if you hesitate to bridge your Land Deed(s), you may be depriving some profit-hungry go-getter from partnering with your Guild. If you wait, someone else’s Guild will snatch them up and get a head start!

Talk is cheap and action is everything in the business world. If you own Legacy Land, this is your call to action: BRIDGE YOUR DEED EARLY or you may be sorry.

How to Bridge

If you haven’t bridged any items to GalaChain yet, it’s super easy to do through the Gala Games platform. First, make sure your Deed is in the wallet connected to your Gala Games account. Locate the item in your account’s inventory, then find the big blue button that says “Bridge to GalaChain.

You’ll be amazed at the empowerment of GalaChain ownership!

Please note that bridging to GalaChain will require payment of Ethereum network fees (gas). Gas is required for each item to be bridged.

Build Your Legacy

We hope you’re as excited as we are that Legacy is almost live! Whose Guild will be strongest out of the gate, and what types of creative products will they design and produce? Guild setup begins on Tuesday October 24th, and get ready to start building on Thursday October 26th!

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Ignarok

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Ignarok

The new Hero Ignarok is scorching his way through the summoning portal just in time to help with this weekend’s Dragon Strike!

How could an empty castle be so FILTHY!? Ignarok rested on his broom from his sweeping and let out a deep sigh.

Demon’s Eye Fortress — the most prestigious assignment a young sorcerer could hope for. That’s what they’d all told him, but it wasn’t turning out to be what he thought it’d be as a little cinder dreaming of glory in battle.

At first he’d been delighted by the majesty of the impenetrable fortress… Its battlements and breathtaking fortifications rose high above the crest of the mountain. Sturdy and solid …especially when you considered the bottomless magma pool in which the castle had its foundations.

When he’d gotten here last month it had been a bustling military base, but now nobody lived here. Their stuff still lived everywhere though! Ignarok rested the broom against the wall and went to pick up a discarded knapsack. Some unthinking clod had left this here just spilling all over the stairs. As he was bending to pick it up, he thought better of it. “I don’t suppose they’ll miss it one way or the other.” Flame sprung from his fingers and incinerated the sack readily along with all its contents.

Smiling, he went back to his broom. They’d all left in such a hurry and left the place in a terrible state. At first command had said it was a small troop reallocation. Three platoons gone overnight. A week later it was a redeployment exercise… five platoons.

At the beginning of this month high command announced that due to slight supply issues, they would be gradually shifting to “unmanned defenses” throughout most of the fortress… an entire division gone. It was then down to just Ignarok and a few others.

Samo was the ranking officer at Auxiliary Captain. Ignarok remembered it like yesterday… because it was yesterday. “Iggy,” Samo said. “I’mma take those 6 guys and git before the worst comes, ya? You be nice and toasty here. Ain’t no one getting in. This The Demon’s Eye.”

Ignarok of course thought they were morons, but whatever. He stole all the best stuff and was thinking of this as vacation. Safer in here. Just all this mess!!!

There was a sudden BOOM and the staircase rocked and rumbled. Ignarok tumbled down the stairs. He could hear chunks of rocks falling along with him. His broom struck his head no less than four times on the way down.

Dazed, he finally came to a stop at the bottom of the long winding staircase that led up the North Tower… most of which seemed to no longer be there. BOOM. Rock (what rock was left) started to fall. Time to split.

He ran out into the Phosian courtyard and could hardly believe his eyes. Gigantic boats carrying the symbol of Malum… yet they sailed through the air! Above the lava, they were sailing straight into the main Atrium. The Demon’s Eye was breached!

He had a duty, but he couldn’t resist one or two blasts at the incoming skyships. A few quick flame jets and he’d set dozens of them ablaze. That would buy him a minute.

He ran down through the corridors of the Great Hall. Past the armory, past the infirmary, past even the dungeons. Unlike some of these imbeciles, he’d read his manual. Rule number 3: “If we gonna lose, last one light the fuse”

He was here. The deepest passage in the greatest fortress in the world. No ornate decorations… just dark, hot cave.Through one wall, a long braided cord snaked its way onto the earthen floor. Ignarok blasted it.

As it sparked and sizzled its way towards the rocks obscuring its source, Ignarok’s imagination ran wild. He had no idea what it would do… he was pretty sure no one did. He’d of course be blown to smithereens, but what a boom to be a part of!

The fuse had been through the rocks awhile now, and Ignarok was getting disappointed. Just as he was about to turn away, however, a red glow appeared behind the wall. He braced for an explosion, but it never came. The rocks obscuring the path of the fuse melted to lava before his eyes, and out she came.

He’d heard tales. The legends called her Vulca, The Mother of the Mountain. . She emerged from her cave, free at last and towered over the imp. Her eyes fell to Ignarok.

Ignarok blazed out of the floor of the collapsed North Tower on Dragonback, and made Malum’s ships pay dearly for their assault. Ship after ship burned its way down to the pit of fire by his hand, as the mighty dragon under him clawed and tore others out of the sky.

The entire fleet rained bolt and pellet onto this single Dragon and imp for minutes, yet for what felt like hours they struck terror into the hearts of all Malum’s forces assembled there.

After 62 skyships were torn asunder, the mighty Dragon was struck through the eye. Ignarok and she both descended into the fire where they’d sent so many prey just moments before.

“Are you ok? What’s your name?”

A voice? Wasn’t he dead?

“I’m Calida. It’s ok, you can open your eyes. We need your help.”

Ignarok, Red Dragon Slayer

Ignarok is a simple imp. He likes to burn things, cause mischief… you know, imp stuff. Unlike many of his kind, however, Ignarok has a noble heart. His devotion and selflessness have set him apart from the rest in the past and will again.

Ignarok is a master of the Ability Inferno. This powerful blast of phosphate excreted from the wrists of imps from the far south will ignite anything it touches and do tremendous damage over time. Any protective or otherwise beneficial magic that may have been applied to his enemies will surely burn along with their physical bodies and mana stockpiles.

Ignarok will arrive on Thursday, October 19th for the next Dragon Strike event. Are you ready to burn some stuff with Iggy?

Dragon Slayers, Attack!

As usual with a new Hero, Ignarok will have a 10x modifier to all Tournament and Dragon Strike damage that will scale down gradually to a 5x modifier for the Legendary version.

The Rare Ignarok will have a 5x modifier for all Tournament and Dragon Strike damage that will scale down gradually to a 2x modifier, where it will eventually remain permanently.

Like other Heroes before, Ignarok is available all week as a possible bonus summon and will enter the permanent summoning pool.

Ignarok will be a great help in this weekend’s Dragon Strike. Don’t miss this new hero!

Coming up next week is a Purple Tournament… What hero will be unveiled then?

Legacy Ownership: Deeds, Keys, and Rewards

Legacy Ownership: Deeds, Keys, and Rewards

Before the October 26th launch, learn more about how Deed ownership and Legacy Keys make a truly unique player experience.

Welcome to Legacy, the innovative business sim created by 22Cans and leveled up to real ownership through the power of GalaChain. Legacy is a premier experience that intertwines strategy, design, and rewards in a unique manner. At the heart of this experience lie Land Deeds and Legacy Keys, aspects that introduce a novel dimension to gameplay and rewards. Here’s what you need to know as we prepare for the October 26th launch.

Legacy Land: More Than Just Pixels on a Map

Owning Deeds in Legacy is about more than mere territory; It’s about owning and operating a thriving business. It’s a statement of your dedication to the game, and those who own Deeds will enjoy a more managerial experience, along with shared rewards from team members.

Guilds: The Allure of Land Deeds

Be sure to pick a Guild that will lead to success!

As the benefactors for their Guilds, Deed owners get to make key decisions that impact their Guild. They can set rules for their team and decide on the reward split between Deed Holder and Key Holder.

Every Legacy player who does not own a Deed will gain access to the game by selecting a Legacy Key from any available Guild. Guild owners may always enjoy access without using one of their precious Legacy Keys (the Deed itself grants the owner access to the game), while other players can simply choose a Legacy Key in-game based on the specifications set by the Guild leader/Deed owner. Essentially, all players must be part of a team, with each team led by the one who owns the Legacy Deed.

Deed owners will have access to Legacy Keys, which will be used by players who do not own Deeds to unlock game access. The number of Legacy Keys is determined by the rarity of the Deed.

With a future update, players will have the option to purchase additional Legacy Keys, upgrading their Guild to allow more players and share greater rewards. This is why we have listed below both At Start and Maximum

Startup Deed (Common) — 0 at Start, 1 Max
Enterprise Deed (Uncommon) — 1 at Start, 3 Max
Firm Deed (Rare) — 3 at Start, 10 Max
Corporation Deed (Epic) — 10 at Start, 40 Max
Conglomerate Deed (Legendary) — 25 at Start, 100 Max
Heart of London (Ancient) — 100 at Start, 500 Max

Additional reward advantages will vary based on rarity of Deed. Look for more info about that in the next blog!

Attention Deed Owners:

You will have exclusive early access to enter the game and configure your Guild even before gameplay goes live with the October 26th launch. This early owner access period will begin on Tuesday, October 24th.

Owners will have the ability to bridge their Deeds to GalaChain starting on Tuesday. Be sure to bridge your Deeds before the Thursday launch so players can join your Guild.

Owners of Legacy Deeds will get a portion of the Event rewards received by everyone in their Guild. This means that Deed-owning players can decide whether they would like to stick to their own game, focus on the management of their team of Legacy Key holders, or a strategic combination of both. Deed owners share their own rewards with no one, while every free player must share with the Deed owner that made it possible for them.

And of course, the greatest benefit to owning a Legacy Deed is the fact that you actually own it. Real ownership is the most important function of web3 tech in gaming. It means that you can benefit from your property as long as you play with it, then list it on a secondary market like OpenSea at any time.

Partner with the best!

Legacy’s Exclusive Edge

Legacy’s introduction of Deeds and Keys weaves a tapestry of exclusivity for those who are most committed to either play or ownership in the game. Players either own a piece of the game’s world, or else form strategic alliances to benefit from someone else’s property (just like in the real business world). This exclusivity perk positions Legacy as a unique gaming experience, where strategy, partnership, and rewards converge.

As the game grows in active players and popularity, more regions can be added for Land ownership, greatly increasing the potential rewards and numbers of Design Competitions.

Pick a product that works for you!

Make Your Mark on the Business World

Legacy isn’t just about building and competing — it’s about being part of an exclusive world where every decision, from ownership to partnerships, holds weight. Whether you’re a proud Deed owner or a partner player looking for alliances, Legacy promises an experience steeped in strategy, camaraderie, and unparalleled rewards.

Step into the world of Legacy, where ownership isn’t just possible — it’s power and prestige. Get ready for Legacy’s launch on October 26th, 2023.

Next Up: Competitions and Rewards

We’ll soon publish a blog sharing a more detailed look at Legacy’s Events and Competitions, as well as the potential rewards for participating. Then right before launch, we’ll share a litepaper outlining the game’s complete economic details.

Event winners will receive Legacy Tickets, which are used to determine the amount of $GALA rewards received by Competition participants at the end of each reward cycle. For now, rest assured that competitive Events are the core of Legacy rewards, and becoming a successful tycoon means optimizing your creativity and efficiency in the design process.

We hope you’re excited to get out there and test your mettle, stretch your creative brain and build your Legacy!

Spider Tanks Showcase: Movement Abilities

Spider Tanks Showcase: Movement Abilities

Time to get a move on! Today we’re focusing on Abilities that let you dominate with positioning and maneuvering.

Hello Pilots, and welcome back to the Spider Tanks Showcase!

Today we wanted to do something a little different than usual. We’ll be zooming in on two Abilities that often feel like two sides of the same coin, yet have far different applications and strategies.

Today we’re focusing on movement Abilities, but we’ll start working our way through other Abilities available to Pilots and hopefully show you new ways to square off against the competition.

So strap in, brace yourself and get ready to go FAST as we zoom through everything about Speed Booster and Relay Drone!

Movement Abilities and Strategy Overview

Obviously, positioning is incredibly important within each and every match. Even on game modes where you aren’t necessarily fighting over an objective location, you are still whirring around in the chaos of battle and trying to defend against three other Tanks. Obstacles, bottlenecks and cover so often decide the match.

Both Speed Booster and Relay Drone get you an extra burst of movement to get where you need to go, and most Pilots will have a favorite between the two.

Many Pilots mistakenly think that Relay Drone is strictly a surprise skill and Speed Booster is for augmenting movement, but that’s not always the case. Each has their own unique advantages and situational dominance.

With any tank larger than Medium-Heavy, Relay Drone probably nets a little more distance than Speed Booster over short distances and very long distances. For the heaviest Tanks with Energy to spare, this is even more pronounced.

Speed Booster only costs 4 Energy, so it can be used pretty frequently… even by little Tanks with very low Energy regeneration. It has a long duration with a steady boost, which can allow you to put some distance between you and a threat or run down a Tank that’s the same Speed or slightly faster than you.

On the negative side, however, it’s very noticeable when you are using it and a skilled enemy will account for it. On larger Tanks, you may not get enough acceleration to change much since they’re so slow to start off. Finally, while you may be cranked up to super speed, that doesn’t mean you won’t have to run all the way around an obstacle if the enemy uses the map to their advantage.

Relay Drone costs 6 Energy, which necessitates it being used far more sparingly than Speed Booster. It will, however, give instant results. Since you can teleport independently of obstacles, you can use this Ability to instantly escape an oncoming threat, or sneak up on a Tank that thought they were safe. For large Tanks that may take 15+ seconds to cross the entire arena, even at high costs a Relay Drone can mean not always being behind the action.

For its drawbacks you obviously have the Energy Cost. For a smaller Tank, six Energy takes a long time to build which will put Relay Drone out of the question if you need readily available utility from your other Ability. Even for medium and large Tanks, six Energy is going to be a sacrifice. Jumping the gun could mean death, so your timing has to be right. To further complicate this balance, you’ll be unable to shoot for a split second after teleporting.

Even in an all out race, Speed Booster can’t make up for the massive jump of Relay Drone on Heavier Tanks

It’s not that either ability is overall better, but that they each have situations that they’re superior for. Need to jump away from a flame across a pit of lava? Relay Drone. Need to relentlessly pursue your target? Speed Booster.

Which situations you want to be prepared for depend on the specific battle as well as your skills and preference.

Offense in Motion

Positioning is just as crucial for the other team as it is for yours. Well timed movement can compromise all their planning and wipe their squad quickly if executed well.

Both Speed Booster and Relay Drone can bust up bunkers and do serious damage to the enemy team, but they are separate tools with separate strengths.

Zip in, zip out, Tanks explode. Simple.

Speed Booster offers you sustain and consistency. Most Tanks can keep up Speed Booster a good chunk of the match, so if you want to go in fast and stay fast, Speed Booster is probably the answer. What Weapons the enemy is using also can play a big part in this, because you can dodge much more effectively with Speed Booster. If the enemy is using linear Weapons like Cannon or Bouncer and you decide to come up close, you better be able to dodge what they’re going to throw at you!

Relay Drone, on the other hand, offers you a potentially game-changing effect in a one-and-done burst. You can jump right over defenses the enemy is behind and have a quick shot, or you can hop over them as they flee to unexpectedly meet their path. Unlike Speed Booster, Relay Drone only gives brief visual cues to your opponents. If you think you can beat their reaction speed, Relay Drone may be the best way.

Even with typically long range weaponry, Relay Drone can be a powerful offensive tool. For Weapons with a charge like the Railgun, the firing delay after a teleport doesn’t mean you can’t charge up right away!

Beyond each skill’s strengths, it should be mentioned that just having extra movement Abilities around creates a noticeable net benefit for your team, even if only as a deterrent. Once the enemy sees that you’re not afraid to use that Speed Booster to zip away or pop over to their healer with a Relay Drone if they rush, they’re likely to rethink their plans.

Any time that you can create doubt and confusion in the enemy is great. Three and a half minutes isn’t very long. Even a few seconds off balance for a team can totally shift the outcome of the match in your favor.

Mobile Defense

While Relay Drone and Speed Booster are regularly used to put more pressure on an enemy or separate foes to pick off isolated targets, they’re just as valuable defensively. If you’re already in a fast Tank, you shouldn’t just think of your Speed Booster as a ‘zip in for the kill’ tool. It’s also an excellent ‘get the hell out of here’ tool!

Even a Medium Tank can quickly become the fastest on the battlefield with a Speed Booster. Sometimes the best option really is to run away and regroup.

Relay Drone likewise has a pretty impressive array of defensive applications. First, there’s the ability to counter a Relay Drone with a Relay Drone. Flame pops in on you uninvited? Teleport away and gun them down from safety. When using Relay Drone to flee from danger, you can easily put obstacles between yourself and the enemy so they can’t easily catch you with just a second or two of movement. You’ve now turned a moment of disadvantage to advantage.

Wow, this would’ve been so much easier with a Relay Drone!

You don’t always have to be just fleeing from immediate danger to use Relay Drone for extra defense. Think about those moments where all six Tanks are lined up fighting for one bottleneck. You see an enemy moving towards a hole on your team to flank. Relay Drone saves the day again! You can instantly restructure your defensive formation to account for threats.

Move on Out!

This concludes today’s Showcase, but there’s plenty more to explore in the arena!

Next time we’ll be looking into the King of the Hill game mode. Send us your strategic advice or epic clips to @Spider_Tanks on Twitter or Discord for a chance to be featured in the next edition!
