At Gala Games, we understand that the community’s original “WEN” meme can sometimes be a symbol of frustration, as well as anticipation and support. Just like you, we can hardly wait for the Spider Tanks future to unfold.

The Spider Tanks WENniversary

We gather now in celebration of one year of Spider Tanks community anticipation. We would say it’s the first WENniversary, but you can rest assured this will be the only Spider Tanks WENniversary.

Why Celebrate?

In the new world of Web3 gaming that we’re pioneering together, the community is more involved in the development process than ever before. Instead of quietly developing for years behind closed doors, we invite our community to observe and take part in the development process. This is the spirit of Web3 and decentralization, and it’s very important to Gala Games.

As we remind you from time to time, game development is always a lengthy process that requires patience and adaptability. When we offer the Web3 transparency of early announcements, developer updates, AMAs and the like, we are able to bring you into the creation process. This means that as a member of our decentralized community, we encourage you to share that sense of patience with us.

That being said, we love games too, and we absolutely share the sentiments of “Wen,” which is why we take delight in the community’s enthusiasm over original memes like “Wen” and “Thoon.”

The WENniversary Skins

Starting next Monday at 4:00pm PT, these 3 Tank Skins will only be available in limited supply, and only through the end of July in the Spider Tanks store. Don’t forget that in Spider Tanks, NFT skins actually give you in-game stat boosts when you play with them! The higher the rarity, the greater the boosts, so a Tank Skin can mean a lot when it comes to the difference between victory and defeat.

Sale Details

Here’s the deal. These Skins will only be available until the end of July, and they will be sold in increasing price tiers*.

Sale begins Monday, July 25th and runs through 11:59pm PT July 31st.

The sooner you purchase, the better price you’ll get, and since there can be only one WENniversary, any unsold WENniversary Skins will be burned forever following the sale.

*1st Tier = 50% discount, 2nd Tier = 20% discount, 3rd Tier = Base Price. Each additional tier will increase + 15% of Base Price.

On Friday, July 15th, a first draft version of the Spider Tanks Lite Paper was published and shared with the community, and everyone has been talking about it. The Gala Games community is an amazing place made up of multitudes, but our community owes so much to the careful and caring hands of a select group of elite professionals- The Primarchs of the Crimson Sun!

As the epicenter of Gala Games’ customer support, this team makes it their business to make sure the community is heard, informed and healthy. They guide the community and protect it from those who would do it harm. They also serve as a conduit between community and company, so that no matter what perspective we have, we’re all Galaxians.

We’ve spotlighted some of the Primarchs in previous posts, but today we focus on one remaining member of this elite squad of customer service professionals– Kathie! To most of the community she may be better known as Fria!

What is your role at Gala Games?

I am a Customer Support Lead. I help guide, mentor and resolve issues while assisting others within the company. I’m surrounded by a fantastic team. Together, we provide exceptional support to the community.

Why did you choose your Galaxian Title?

I have chosen the path of a Knight. As a loyal guardian, it is my duty to fortify and protect while defending against those who seek disorder and chaos. With confidence in the vision and honor in my heart, I aspire to bring knowledge, solutions and peace to all.

Favorite part of the Gala Games community?

I began my Gala Games journey as a community member, hanging out in Discord. It will always hold a special place in my heart. And of course… TEAM PIZZA! 🍕

What are your favorite games?

I’ve been a huge fan of Pokemon since the early days. Legend of Zelda games are always a delight to play. Obliterating bosses in Warcraft is always a blast. Recently, I played Elden Ring, which was an exhilarating challenge!

Lately, I’ve been achieving victory in Spider Tanks. I can’t wait to explore the world of Mirandus!

Favorite music?

There is a lot of great music out there! I have songs that I love to listen to in a wide variety of genres.

Cool hobbies and interests?

When I’m not playing video games, I enjoy binge watching my favorite shows.

Proudest gaming moment ever?

My greatest gaming moment is probably where it all began, The Nintendo SIXTY-FOOOOUR! Classics such as Banjo Kazooie and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time inspired me to be a lifelong gamer. It introduced worlds beyond imagination and influenced my passion for video games to this day.

Favorite Food?

Pizza of course!

Which Spider Tanks Hat best represents you?

Space Helmet, logically! Who wouldn’t want to boldly go where no tank has gone before?

Which EoE Faction would you be aligned with?

While both the Royals and the Garrison sound fascinating, I would probably align with the Arbeiters and mine my own planet!

Which Exemplar best embodies you?

Darksun Elf. I prefer to hunt under the protection of the night sky.

What did you do before you came to Gala Games?

I have experience in Information Technology. Before joining the ranks of the Crimson Sun, I was a Community Moderator. I am a big supporter of blockchain and a decentralized future. Inspired by the brilliant minds here at Gala Games, it has been a dream come true to be a part of this field and apply my skills to the future of Web3 entertainment!

Which Town Star character could you replace, if only given the opportunity?

Jimmy! That way I could go on an amazing adventure! Would need to be careful about taking the adventure too far. Don’t want to end up on an alien spaceship… I wonder what Jimmy is up to right now?

Join the Best Web3 Community Around

Beginning on July 19th, Town Star Play-to-Earn will begin a series of major economic upgrades, temporarily pausing TOWN distribution.

The flagship Web3 town builder might have recently won the Best Blockchain Game of the Year award, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still huge room for improvement and growth. We are all fortunate to have witnessed Town Star’s rise as one of the earliest and most rewarding play-to earn games out there.

As we now guide Town Star to its next evolution as the world’s greatest Web3 sim game, there are some important developments and upgrades to be made. By listening closely to community feedback, we have determined that the best time is now to begin making these large and necessary updates.

Beginning on July 19th, all TOWN distributions to players and Node operators will temporarily stop.

During this temporary TOWN pause, we will focus on evolving the Town Star in-game economy, making tech improvements as well as adding features to the game. This has been discussed at length in the #townstar_discussions channel in our Discord community.

This change, while it is unexpected for some, is a wonderful thing for Town Star players, as well as for the health of the TOWN economy. With this change, we have doubled the size of the Town Star team and brought in a seasoned industry expert, Mark Skaggs [WIKIPEDIA LINK], to lead this winning team. We are also in the process of switching the game development engine from PlayCanvas, which is client-side authoritative, to Godot, which is server-side authoritative (an important part of stopping cheats, scripts, and hacks).

We are investing heavily in Town Star and would like to see it become the first Web3 game to achieve large-scale mass adoption. This step, while temporarily painful, is necessary to achieve that goal.

We will continue to run both the daily challenges and competition but changes should be expected along the way as new systems are added and tested. Town Points earned during this period will not result in any TOWN distribution and will be erased at the end of each day. Those who operate Town Star Nodes are under no obligation to continue to do so, but please know that Nodes are a key part of the future of Town Star.

This is a big project and it will take some time to get there, though we’re confident that this pause will allow our team to evolve the in-game economy, add more fun features, and upgrade our game engine to support an amazing future for all Town Star players.
