Exemplar Evolution: Dwarves and Elves

Our male dwarf and elf Exemplars are stepping into the spotlight with updated designs that align with the aesthetic of our human male Exemplars. This enhancement is just the beginning as we continue to refine and complete the Exemplar roster in upcoming updates.

Remember, Exemplars are your key to Mirandus early access. By owning at least one, you’re able to join the adventure at any time pre-launch! The fortunate will find Exemplars on the secondary markets at NFT Harbor (GalaChain) and OpenSea (Ethereum).

Crafting Revolution

Crafting reaches new heights in Narrows Landing with a significant expansion of available recipes. Players can now forge powerful weapons, durable armor, and create essential food and recovery items. Alongside this, the variety of harvestable resources has grown, ensuring that no crafting station in Narrows Landing will sit idle for long.

An Improved Interface

Immersion is key in Mirandus, and our updated in-game UI ensures the experience is as seamless and visually cohesive as possible. This latest look perfectly complements the art style of the game, enhancing every player interaction.

Gala Games’ Web3 MMO is about to open its Public Preview build

Gala Games’ Web3 MMO is about to open its Public Preview build

The highly anticipated epic fantasy MMO from Gala Games has just announced that its Public Preview build will soon be playable on a full-time basis to all Exemplar-owning members of the Gala Games community.

Because of the massive time and development commitments of creating an open-world MMORPG of this magnitude, Mirandus has been one of Gala Games’ most ambitious development projects.  When you add in the revolutionary approach of NFT integration and the idea that “dying hurts,” it becomes possible to see the huge scope of creating this world.

While until now, playtests for Mirandus have been few and far between, the dev team is ready to bring players into the experience, giving everyone in the ecosystem a unique chance to take part as this gaming masterpiece comes together.

The Public Preview Build

Starting next Friday, November 15th we will open the current Mirandus servers around the clock, allowing players to enjoy the game in its current state.

While the Mirandus final launch is still in the distance, this will give players an elf’s-eye view of the world coming together, allowing everyone to appreciate the detail and beauty going into this exquisite passion project.

The game will be downloadable on PC, open to anyone who holds an Exemplar NFT in their Gala Games inventory.

Exemplar Ownership is Required

Exemplars are NFT avatars, each class with its own background, story and unique skill set. Your Exemplar is your exclusive player token in the world of Mirandus. Without one, you cannot enter the game. Those interested in acquiring an Exemplar should check the Ethereum-based secondary markets on OpenSea or the GalaChain-based secondary market at NFT Harbor.

The Legendary Allsight Elves are the most mysterious and perhaps oldest elven ancestry in the world of Mirandus, although you cannot tell by looking at them. It is said they exist across time, allowing them to hone in on the future in some situations. Imagine the power…

Years of living underground have given the Deep Mountain Dwarf Clan the ability to visibly feel their surroundings, even in the deepest dark. Many of these Exemplars have never seen the sun. Think of the treasures you could find by being able to see in the dark.

Perhaps you’d like to be an Evenstride Halfling, able to perfectly control your weight distribution when running for exceptional performance. You could glide fluidly over long distances, keeping perfect balance no matter the terrain and rarely tiring.

Above are just a few examples of the Exemplars to choose from. Of the 5 different races offered (Elf, Halfling, Dwarf, Human, Orc), a total of 25 different Exemplar ancestries have been released and sold as NFTs.

Prepare for Adventure

We are excited to invite you to participate in this ongoing Public Preview build of Mirandus as we continue to make great strides toward its full release with Deeds, Buildings, Materium and much more.

Be ready, for the adventure begins next Friday.

Mirandus Playtest: The Hunt for the Golden Rabbit

Mirandus Playtest: The Hunt for the Golden Rabbit

A call to all intrepid Exemplars of Mirandus: The hunt is beginning soon!

Our September playtest begins tomorrow, August 27th at 7am PT. This playtest will feature an all-new zone – the Rolling Hills. Here players will have ample opportunity to gather resources, craft weapons and hunt prey.

How to Play

Any holder of an Exemplar will be able to participate in this playtest. Regardless of the type of Exemplar you hold, all character models will be humans for this event.

Players will start with minimal equipment and resources. You’ll need to live off the land, gathering resources to grow in power and achieve your goals.

If you’ve never played in a Mirandus playtest before, you’ll find a control guide in the top left of your screen. Explore the Rolling Hills. Discover what you can and experiment with your new world. But beware! Mirandus is perilous, and an untested Exemplar can quickly fall to the dangers of this land.

Should your character die, you can respawn and begin your adventure again. Don’t get discouraged. Mirandus is a wild land, waiting to be tamed by brave Exemplars.

What to Expect in This Adventure

As we said in a previous update, the incremental advances of this milestone may not be immediately apparent to players. We’ve been adjusting various backend systems that will enable more rapid development and larger strides in months to come.

Come here about everything we’ve been working on in last week’s Town Hall!

This test is primarily intended to test the loop of players harvesting, crafting and hunting. The Rolling Hills has everything players will need to craft weapons and find the materials they need. Previously available zones will return in future playtests… but this one is all about the hunt! Besides, there may be another zone within this playtest for those who adventure too hard and find their exemplar unable to withstand the challenges of Mirandus!

Keep your eyes peeled for the Golden Rabbit darting throughout the hills. This mysterious bunny is carrying a precious ruby… this is the goal! Exemplars that get their hands on this ruby will receive The Covenant of the Wild  NFT, an original limited art NFT created by the Mirandus team.

All participants will receive another original and limited NFT – A Terrifying Sight. Don’t give up on the Golden Rabbit though and simply accept only the participation reward! The Golden Rabbit waits for you! Should the rabbit be killed, it will respawn after a short time with a fresh ruby.

Let the Adventure Begin!

This playtest will continue throughout the week, giving you until Friday afternoon to hunt down that bunny!

Track your quarry patiently… the Golden Rabbit is elusive, but in time you will find what you seek.

Good luck out there adventurers! We’ll see you in the Rolling Hills!

The Path to Mirandus: Q3 and Q4 2024

The Path to Mirandus: Q3 and Q4 2024

The path has been long, adventurer. Do you see it on the horizon? Mirandus awaits!

The world of Mirandus isn’t simply discovered… it’s crafted specifically for the mighty Exemplars who eagerly await their adventures in this new world. Bringing this complex world to life requires incremental victories and building on the successes of yesterday to create more robust mechanics and an engaging Mirandus tomorrow.

We’re not at the end of this journey yet, adventurer… but your destination grows closer each day.

Small Steps Heading Towards Big Leaps

In the third quarter of 2024, we hope to hit some major goals that may seem incremental from the outside looking in, but are absolutely essential to the next steps in opening Mirandus for exploration.

Our first milestone target will be July. During this period we hope to fully test the infrastructure and processes of our release pipeline. By this point, we’re planning to have refined the core set of gameplay mechanics and for engineering analytics to have identified main weaknesses and priorities as we move towards live servers.

As we approach the end of the quarter, we hope to reach our second milestone in September. For this benchmark, we’re planning to have a workable system in place for all basic crafting recipes, including related and art and gameplay integrations. These recipes and items will expand over time. This initial system will serve as the foundation for testing and optimization before being filled out with additional items.

A Strong End to 2024

As the year comes to a close, we’re going to get more ambitious in the milestones we’re hoping to reach. We’ll build on the fundamentals we’ve established in Q3, and Mirandus will start to look more like a real world.

For our third milestone in October, we’re hoping to have a solid first pass on combat and analytics. Again, these systems will start off very basic. Getting a solid foundation on these, however, is absolutely necessary to building a fun game.

By the end of December, we hope to hit our fourth major milestone. At this time, we hope to have a very basic version of deed and building placement within the game. This will likely be limited to buildings dealing with food, armor and weapons to start. We also hope to have a functional UI for store management and the full ability to get people into the game… for longer than just a few hour playtest!

Into the Future

Game development is never quite a straightforward A to B path, and we acknowledge that unexpected issues may come up that could require us to deviate from this roadmap. We do believe, however, that these goals are realistic and achievable over the next six months.

Beyond 2024, the focus can move beyond fundamental systems as we begin giving the world of Mirandus more depth. This is when the full realization of Exemplars and Materium in game will begin, as well as refining enemies, bosses and dungeons.

2024 will be the year of establishing the foundation. 2025 will use that foundation to create everything that makes Mirandus Mirandus.

The Journey and the End of the Path

Boiling the development of such a large project as Mirandus down to some itemized milestones belies the actual progress that ironing out seemingly inconsequential systems can create in MMORPG development.

In a world as vast as Mirandus, every system relies on those underneath and around it to function and create a fun and engaging experience. While 2024 may seem less exciting than what’s coming on the horizon, the work we do in the next six months hopefully results in Exemplars discovering all that the wild land of Mirandus has to offer in 2025.

We’ll keep you updated regularly as we move through the year. Hopefully knowing where we’re headed makes you as excited as we are as we craft the world of Mirandus for the arrival of Exemplars!
