Get Ready for Last Expedition

Join us Friday for a live streamed closed playtest of Last Expedition, the in-devlopment Web3 FPS

There are many new amazing gaming projects coming to the Gala Games Ecosystem, but the most talked about has probably been Last Expedition, the upcoming survival FPS.

Gala Games has promised some Web3 games that will rival some of the highest quality games you have ever seen. It’s time for you to witness one first hand.

Last Expedition

The game is a PvPvE 3rd Person Shooter/Survival FPS. Players must face off against a hostile alien world where everything and everyone wants them dead. Blockchain ownership will create new layers of survival strategy, bringing Web3 and AAA FPS games together for the first time in a brilliant and explosive combination.

Some limited teases and trailers of gameplay have been revealed, but this Friday many of you will enjoy your first chance to witness the cutting edge gameplay of Last Expedition live.

Early Test Opportunities

Guests of the -into the galaverse origin Las Vegas event in December 2021 were able to experience a limited onsite playtest of this incredible game.

Since the initial Galaverse playtest, gameplay opportunities have been very scarce and exclusive, limited to small internal groups. Recently, some members of the Gala Games team were invited into the fray. Let’s just say that they were blown away.

Playtest Watch Party

Gala Games’ Founder Eric Schiermeyer was so impressed with Last Expedition’s gameplay that he immediately called for a special invitational playtest. Basically, the game is not ready for the masses to jump in quite yet, but we could not wait any longer to share this beauty with the world.

We figure if they can’t play, let’s let them watch. Then they’ll understand why we’re so excited.

Unfortunately, you can’t play this time unless you’re one of the invited guests, but there will be plenty of opportunities to watch gameplay from some of your favorite Web3 content creators. You’ll even get to watch Jason “Bitbender” Brink taking on Last Expedition from the official Gala Games channels.

Sign up for notifications now at the scheduled stream link below:

Hosted on Nodes

There is another exciting reason for this particular playtest, and what it represents for the future of Web3 gaming is nothing short of revolutionary.

When you watch this amazing and sleek playtest on Friday afternoon, remember that the entire experience is being hosted through decentralized Gala Founder’s Nodes from our Node Testing Group. Let that sink in for a second.

This is a huge step for the future of decentralized gaming, where supporters can earn rewards for providing hosting resources to decentralized networks, making them more scalable than ever before. This has been Gala Games’ direction all along, and this is a major milestone on the road to ultimate Web3 empowerment.

Come Hang Out — Friday July 15 @ 3–4pm PT

We invite you to fully enjoy the festivities on Friday afternoon, as we celebrate Last Expedition and a new era of Web3 gaming.

Join us in Discord, where you’re sure to find some friends, and maybe even a leak or two. Share your favorite moments on social media with a #LastExpedition tag for a chance to get reshared from the official Gala Games account. And be sure to make your rounds to check out some of our other invited guests as they give Last Expedition a try for the first time.

Special Guest Streamers… You’ll find them playing Last Expedition throughout the hour of the playtest on their own channels!

CryptoStache

On Chain Gaming

It’s all happening Friday from 3–4pm PT. Get psyched. We’re not selling anything this time. We’re just showing off a real game-changer of a game.

Eternal Paradox | By NDream

Eternal Paradox | By NDream

Here’s more info on Eternal Paradox, the Web3 4X RPG from NDream and Gala Games

Last month at -into the galaverse Europe 2022, we revealed the first sneak peeks of Eternal Paradox when we blew the crowd away with a brief mainstage presentation from a couple members of the NDream team. Then the Eternal Paradox land sale was kicked off, first as a Galaverse exclusive, then open to everyone in the Gala Games Ecosystem.

Land in Eternal Paradox

The size of a specific plot of NFT land is determined by its rarity, according to the breakdown below:

  • Common: 6×6 (36 squares)
  • Uncommon: 8×8 (64 squares)
  • Rare: 10×10 (100 squares)
  • Epic: 14×14 (196 squares)
  • Legendary: 18×18 (324 squares)
  • Ancient: 24×24 (576 squares)

As you can see, there will be far greater opportunities for owners of more rare plots of land based solely on the land’s area and location. Of course, Common Land will be more plentiful in the game than every other rarity.

Space on all Land is limited, and each player’s castle will take up a 2×2 square block. Therefore a maximum of 144 total players can play on an Ancient Land.

Everything centers around the Rings of Ruin

The Rings of Ruin

A mysterious catastrophic event at a large crater has entangled everyone and everything in an endless cycle of power building to destruction back to power building again.

At the center of the continent’s struggle are the Rings of Ruin, which revolve and float in interlocking balance with one another atop the crater. The prophecy states that “When the Rings stop revolving, the continent will face destruction.”

As the Rings begin to crumble, bringing the continent ever closer to ruin, brave Mercenaries from around the land must journey to the Rings in an attempt to cease their destructive power before it is too late.

A mysterious and otherworldly power

Rewritten… Once Again

Using the Rings of Ruin as a guiding force for not only the geography and story, but the time of Eternal Paradox is a brilliant move from the development team at NDream. Within the 49-day seasonal structure that repeats time and time again, the world of Eternal Paradox will take on a new life of its own every single time.

New alliances will form, new conflicts will spark, and new players will enter the fray as a beautiful new hybrid form of interactive storytelling takes place.

Playing the Game

In the 49 days of each season’s gameplay, you’ll produce and collect resources, using them to build, upgrade and craft. You’ll also use your NFT Mercenaries to team up with allies and conquer foes in epic RPG turn-based combat, leveling up, gathering resources and working your way closer to the Rings of Ruin at the continent’s center.

Even if you don’t own NFT Mercenaries yourself, Eternal Paradox will offer a system of borrowing and lending that will allow free players to use the NFTs of others for a share of their rewards.

Build up your castle and expand your army, while working toward research and upgrades to expand your power!

Customize your castle

Gameplay combines beloved combat and exploration elements of role-playing games with the resource-building and expansion-based mechanics of your favorite 4x games.

There will be lots more from the NDream developers coming on gameplay as we get closer to the launch of Eternal Paradox. For now, let’s explore the perks to owning land in the time-looped world of Eternal Paradox.

Own your combat experience

Owning Eternal Paradox Land

Becoming a landowner in Eternal Paradox comes with some nice perks.

Your Land is an NFT — The fact that your Land is a tradable NFT means it will always be easy for you to list it on the secondary market if necessary… so you can upgrade your land or change to a better location closer to your friends.

Choose a Buff — No matter the rarity of your Land, you can choose a single Buff. Buff selections are different depending on the rarity of the Land (Examples: Increased Resource Collection, Increased Hero Stats).

Earning Silver — Players need to share the Silver they earned with their landowners. Collected Silver is used to determine token rewards.

Field Resources — Landowners will be able to receive the extra field resources in proportion to the amount of resources collected by the players who are playing on their land.

Get Off My Lawn — Landowners can kick people off their land whenever they need.

As of now, you can still get an Elysium Land Deed in any of the six rarities from Common to Ancient in the Gala Games store. Once purchased, these Land Deeds can be exchanged through the Gala Games platform for specifically minted land plots, complete with the land’s coordinate location on the Eternal Paradox map.

Rewards

This is Web3 gaming with Gala Games, so of course there will be tons of reward opportunities for players.

Every player’s main goal each season is to occupy the Rings of Ruin. At the end of the Season, these Occupation rewards will be distributed to those who win the final victory to occupy the seat of power at the center of the continent.

In addition to the seasonal and daily rewards for the NFT-owning players, there will be ways for non-NFT-owning players to earn both daily and seasonal rewards. Players can lease the NFT Mercenaries to do all the game activities and participate in the season final battle.

Cross Platform

We are completely thrilled with Eternal Paradox to bring you a cross platform release with a fully developed mobile version in addition to PC. According to recent data, there are more than 2 billion mobile game players in the world today.

Galaxian Highlights #4 | Primarchs of the Crimson Sun

Galaxian Highlights #4 | Primarchs of the Crimson Sun

Get to know members of the team with Galaxian Highlights!

Today we focus on another lead of the Community Team that you’ve surely seen around Gala Games before. Learn more about the Primarch you know as Deathlicious!

Primarchs of the Crimson Sun

The Primarchs of the Crimson Sun are always working hard every day to ensure that Gala Games is the best web3 community out there! As our community has grown massively over a short time, no one should take for granted the amazing dedication that this team displays as the masses of Galaxians swell. It is their efforts that ensure that our community is always a wonderful place for people from all walks of life to enjoy.

We’ve already explored many of the Primarchs, but today we’ll focus on another pillar of our elite customer support squad who is tirelessly working for the community whether it’s behind the scenes or out in the open.

Today we spotlight James– better known around Discord as Deathlicious!

What do you do at Gala Games?

I’m a Customer Support Lead. I’ve got a merry band of Customer Support extraordinaires that I love working with every day to identify trends and resolve issues for our community.

Previous experience that you bring to Gala Games

I’ve got a degree in Economics and Financial Accounting but all of my professional experience is actually in Information Technology. I’ve worked for the DoD in a few different roles and capacities and I feel like a lot of those experiences have translated quite well into my role here at Gala Games.

Why did you pick your Galaxian D&D title?

I like to think of myself as a bit of a Barbarian. I enjoy the thrill of competition (friendly of course) and challenges that I can use to focus on tackling problems. The idea of using this focus to adapt and deal massive amounts of deeps is something I can totally embody. In all honesty, Barbarians are obviously the coolest class in D&D.

What are your favorite games?

One of my favorite games that I still play to this day is League of Legends. It’s a game that I’ve played since 2009 and it’s something that I can always pick up and have some fun with. In 2016, I actually managed to achieve Challenger rank and I even received some physical rewards for finishing out the season there. Some of you who are familiar with the game may hate me for this, but I’m a one trick pony player and I love playing Nocturne.

There are many other games that I would consider to be a favorite as well, but just to name a few: Warcraft III, Diablo 2, Final Fantasy VII, Destiny 1/2, and the Fallout series come to mind. I’ll always have a distinct nostalgic feeling and love for Warcraft III as I spent an absolute ton of time playing the various custom maps. Sometimes I’ll hop in there just to enjoy those great maps.

These days I tend to play a wide variety of games but lately I’ve been enjoying some Dying Light 2, Risk of Rain 2 and Elden Ring.

Favorite music?

I can listen to almost any genre of music and enjoy it. But if I’m driving somewhere, I’ll always put on a playlist of some classic rock music which includes artists like AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, KISS, Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, Twisted Sister, Queen, and a whole bunch of others.

Favorite food?

When it comes to food, I love a good burger or steak. As a guy who grew up in California, I could eat In-N-Out pretty much every day and never regret it. I love me a good 4×4 with fresh onions.

Any interesting hobbies?

My favorite hobbies and interests are mostly tech related these days. In particular, I have a hankering for computer hardware and peripherals. I love keeping up to date on the latest hardware and gear that hits the market. I’ve spent more than my fair share of money when it comes to mice and keyboards, that’s for sure.

For any of you keyboard enthusiasts out there, my latest build is a YMDK Melody 96 with Durock V2 Stabilizers and lubed/filmed Gateron Ink Black V2 switches. I can hit a max of 157 wpm on monkeytype.com when I’m equipped with this bad boy. I’ve also got this affinity for Small Form Factor PCs that I’m looking to indulge more in the future and I’ve recently picked up a 3080ti for that sweet gaming performance.

That’s 158, not 157 James!

Outside of those things, I like to spend time with my beautiful wife and two kids. It’s always a good time when we sit down to watch a movie or some TV shows.

Ideal pizza date?

When it comes to pizza, one particular pizza shop comes to mind and it’s for their absolutely delicious pizza that has “tiger shrimp, cilantro, and jalapeno pesto in white sauce, with diced tomatoes”. Get me one of those and a good movie and we’ve got ourselves an ideal date.

Which Spider Tanks hat bests describes you?

The sunny-side egg in a pan speaks deeply to me. I’m a lover of eggs and in particular, a good sunny-side up egg with a runny yolk is just amazing.

True facts.

. . .

We appreciate James volunteering some time to get to know the community a little better. We hope that learning a little about what’s beneath the red name was fun for all of you, and hopefully flexing cyborg-speed typing skills didn’t make anyone feel too insignificant.

It’s always a pleasure to spotlight the Primarchs of the Crimson Sun. In our next installment, we’ll zoom in on our one remaining Customer Support Lead, before we blast off into another part of the Galasphere.

Thanks to every single one of you for being a wonderful part of this community!

July Developer Update

July Developer Update

The team at Ion Games has been busy in development of the Web3 space 4x game, Echoes of Empire

The following update article was originally published July 7th in the Echoes of Empire Discord community.

Greetings, Spacefarers!

It’s time for another dev update, and things are not slowing down! Let’s dive right in and take a look at some of what’s happening behind the scenes, and what’s coming up this month.

Community

Our long-awaited art contest is going to be kicking off soon, so be sure to watch for the details on that in a more focused announcement. There will be a submission period of several weeks to allow for plenty of time to create your art pieces. This is a chance to earn an exclusive prize, so be ready to create!

AMA — July 8 @ 5pm PT

We will also be hosting a video AMA with Gala Games this Friday, July 8th, at 8PM Eastern/5 Pacific. Be sure to check out the details in our thread, as leeks are sure to be flying during the event. We’ll be delving into a lot of information we didn’t get to share during Galaverse, and plenty of other details. We hope to see everyone there, but if you can’t make it, there will be video available following the event.

On the development side, there has been a flurry of work around creating and completing flagships and capital ships. The art team is turning out beautiful designs for our flagships, making them into genuine collector’s pieces you’ll be proud to have in your collection. We are incredibly proud of the art team and the work they’ve done on this over the last several months!

In addition to work on ships, the team has been digging in to work on combat. There has been a great deal of design work, as well as refining how we want the combat system to look and function. Combat will be such a critical part of the game, and making the experience fun and rewarding is a major focus for the team. We are working carefully on balance, which will be an ongoing effort through launch and beyond as we see how the combat system plays out in a live environment. We will be keeping a close eye on feedback post-launch to be aware of changes that need to be made, and will be making those changes as we see the need arise. Ideally, we want to release a stable version of combat that will allow us to get play to earn up and running as quickly as we can.

Work around our deeper resource systems has also begun, bringing in further layers of complexity with refinement and crafting. As you work your way through the higher tiers, you will need to be able to refine the basic resources into more rare refined versions. Keeping up your output of these necessities will require time and effort, but will pay off as you advance in the game.

As you can see, we’re keeping very busy here at Ion Games, and we’re very excited to see how well the game is coming together. We’re so grateful for the community’s enthusiasm and support, you guys rock! Stay awesome, and we’ll see you next month for another update!

Gala Games Founder’s Nodes | Omnibus Proposal V2

Gala Games Founder’s Nodes | Omnibus Proposal V2

Here’s the latest on upcoming plans for the Gala Games Founder’s Node Ecosystem.

There have been very few proposals that have generated quite as much conversation, thinking, and vociferous debate as the last draft of the Omnibus Node Proposal. Gala Games employees spent much of the weekend and the first half of this week in Discord and hosting AMAs on the topic.

There have been a variety of perspectives raised regarding all points of the proposal. Taking community feedback into account, we have tentatively decided to break the proposal into several smaller, more granular proposals, which takes several pieces off the table for the time being.

Therefore, the next draft is:

Vote 1: The Halving Distribution

(July 8th 13:00 PST to July 14th 13:00 PST)

As the halving is taking place this month, should the Founders Node Distribution:

Option 1: Continue with a 50/50 Split in the Distribution between Founders Nodes and Gala Games

Or:

Option 2: Should a Bonus Pool be added to the distribution creating a 25/25/50 distribution of all minted $GALA (Founders Nodes / Gala Games / Bonus Pool)

In the event that Option 2 is chosen, the distribution will remain at 50/50 until a future date at which a bonus pool, which has been crafted in collaboration with the community, can be implemented. In this event, the process of drafting the policies around the bonus pool itself will commence shortly after the completion of this Node vote. However, it is expected to take several months before a drafted policy with community backing can be implemented. Once this policy has been created, the nodes will be given the opportunity to vote to confirm it is still in their best interest before final implementation takes place.

To recap, this means that the Node distribution will look like this. Previous years can be seen on the left, with the two options available on the right.

Vote 2: Organizational Approvals

(July 15th 13:00 PST to July 21st 13:00 PST)

Should the Founders Nodes implement a system of organizational approvals for Game Publishers?

Option 1: Yes

Or:

Option 2: No

The other votes on the use of Nodes as a fund allocation and the conversion of NFTs into Nodes are interlinked to the extent that they cannot be disentangled from one another. Given the pushback of having Nodes able to be converted to NFTs, we have decided to table this option for now. We will also temporarily table the use of Nodes for organizational funding and DAO purposes as well.

We are absolutely committed to working with the community in a way that benefits the entire ecosystem. We know that right now, when markets are down, people tend to get fearful and lash out at things that they perceive as unknowns. We do not want to be that unknown to the community, and are here to communicate and work together to achieve equitable solutions and outcomes for everyone.

Discord AMA — July 7th @ 3pm PT

Join us in our Discord at galagames.chat and jump into the node channel to continue to discuss this proposal with the rest of the community! Jason “BitBender” Brink will host an AMA with the community on Thursday, July 7th at 3pm PST on all Gala Games channels while taking questions from Discord, so mark your calendars to join in the discussion!
