New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Intiara

The new Hero Intiara is arriving this weekend through the summoning portal, ready to rage against your foes in this week’s Dragon Strike!

Ruins. Death all around her.

Intiara walked through what remained of her forest, staggered both physically and emotionally by the untold destruction.

Just two days ago, it had been a peaceful sanctuary of the old ways. Intiara lived in connection with the forest, and it with her. They each gave freely of their power in a beautiful, symbiotic coexistence. But that was all gone. Now Intiara felt the forest dying… and with it, herself.

Malum’s army had camped several leagues away. Intiara didn’t care for the politics of the world, and she’d paid little notice. The foraging parties descended first — uprooting stem and peeling bark. Before long the forest had become a siege workshop, where the army’s engineers felled tree after tree to construct behemoth weapons of war.

She’d tried. The destruction of the forest had filled Intiara with rage. She’d rallied every living thing in its borders against the soldiers. United, they fought back… but both she and the forest were nothing against the endless waves of steel and fire. Now the forest was dying. The army was gone, but the companion she’d lived with so long was beyond her power to save.

She burned with hatred for the engineers, for the soldiers, for everything but her forest. She felt herself fading, but saw no reason to let go of her anger. Sitting down to rest, she looked out across the falling leaves and smoldering fires. Any moment now. Her focus was already fading. She so deeply longed for just one chance at revenge against those monsters though before the end.

An unexpected blue light began to pool in front of her. “The Summoning Portal,” a distinctly maniacal grin spread across her face. “I will have my chance then.”

She turned sadly to look at the ruins of the forest one last time. “Goodbye old friend. You shall be avenged.”

Green Dragon Slayer Hero: Intiara

Intiara has nothing left but her rage. Her connection to nature allows her to enrage those around her, allowing them to accomplish unbelievable feats of strength.

Intiara is a master of the Ability Tribal Frenzy. Channeling her rage into her natural affinity, she is able to massively boost the critical rate, attack and defense of all allied Green Heroes. She has long stood as guardian of her forest, and she will stand firm for her new allies with her more than formidable defenses.

Intiara will arrive on Thursday, August 24th for the next Dragon Strike event. Are you ready?

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Xenathra

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Xenathra

The new Hero Xenathra will arrive for this weekend’s Tournament in Dragon Strike: Puzzle RPG!

What had they done!?

Enchanter, monster they had called her… The Witch of the Mountain. Xenathra had heard the whispers of the villagers for decades — fearful muttering was all it had ever been until now though. Today a blaze of torchlight and angry shouting had come to her door.

She quickly readied herself for a confrontation, annoyed by the intrusion. She had been here long before the village! What right did they have to come to her doorstep with violence? They certainly had experienced hardship from her research deep within the heart of the mountain, but this was her forest and had been for centuries.

She first had trouble directing the power years ago. Random wounds and injuries in the village started healing slower… then stopped altogether. Disease had begun to run rampant since. It was all a terrible affair, and she felt awful for her part in it… but they could leave her forest if they wanted. Her work must continue.

Xenathra peeked out through the blinds in her kitchen window. It wasn’t villagers. Her face fell as she saw the symbols engraved on the nearly hundred sets of heavy armor that had surrounded her hut on the side of the mountain.

The Order of the Anvil. She had always known they would come for her eventually. After centuries of hiding, they’d finally tracked her down. She paused for a moment to recall that time, those days long past.

Yes… she knew she deserved the fate they brought. She had done terrible things. Still, it wasn’t all bad back then. She could still hear the fanatical roar of the crowd when she brought down her foes in The Grand Tournament.

The house was already aflame, but Xenathra grinned with defiance. She was outnumbered in this bout, but she would give them the show of a lifetime. The sorceress launched everything she had through the burning walls of her hut, and one by one the knights fell outside.

Laughing maniacally, she hurled bolt after bolt of deadly magic blindly into the flames as more suits of armor on the other side fell lifeless to the ground. In the village and throughout the valley below, her cackles struck terror into all that heard them. Before long, the roof gave way under the stress of the flames… but still Xenathra’s counter-assault continued. The fire grew into an inferno where a hut had been, but her cackling didn’t stop.

Somewhere far away, Xenathra stepped out of the portal. She was still chuckling to herself as she patted out her flaming clothes.

Purple Tournament Champion: Xenethra

Xenathra has been called many things through her long life, but she has always been a killer. She understands more of the full nature of death than most could ever dream of, and she is able to use that to choke the very life energies out of her opponents. Her unique experience with death has granted her unnaturally long life and an uncanny ability to sustain her own lifeforce.

Xenathra is a master of the Ability Astral Wound. Manipulating the life energies within her opponent, she is able to strike a group of nearby enemies for massive damage and interrupt their ability to heal.

Xenathra will arrive on Thursday, August 31st in time for the next Tournament! Are you ready?

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Olaf!

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Olaf!

The all-new hero Olaf will soon arrive through The Summoning Portal in time for this weekend’s Sub-Zero Tournament!

Olaf kicked at the dust on the arena floor, remembering better days. He looked up at the seats rising high on either side. Empty now — no screaming crowds. The days of glory in his forest coliseum were gone.

They’d be here any minute. He could smell the smoke from Malum’s siege machines approaching. He sat down in the dirt. This tournament field had been his life’s work. If it was to be destroyed, he’d be right here with it.

As he watched the sun dip behind the trees, he was so engrossed in his own reflections he hardly noticed the sound of shuffling feet behind him. Suddenly his trusty spear dropped at his side.

“You’ll need this captain.” Olaf looked up to see Geroni, his sergeant at arms. “We’re with you… we meet this together.”

Olaf smiled, his heart warmed by the sacrifice. Spear in hand, he slowly rose to his feet. Only then did he see the force assembled with Geroni.

The trainers, the porters, the smiths… even the cooks! Nearly the entire arena staff had turned out to fight. Olaf struggled for words as tears streamed down his cheeks. “My friends… you needn’t die here….”

“We stand as family.” Geroni quickly cut him off. His words were confirmed by cheers from the assembled militia.

Even as they cheered, Malum’s forces arrived.

The melee was as grand as any that had ever been seen within the walls of that great arena. Untrained servants fought as legendary gladiators. Each gave everything, and made the enemy pay dearly.

Olaf pierced one enemy after another with his spear, pausing between each stab to summon fresh vitality for his allies. Hundreds of Malum’s troops fell for each of Olaf’s.

In the end there were too many. The most valiant resistance couldn’t compete with the meat grinder of Malum’s war machine. In the end, Olaf was the last.

Brusied and broken in the middle of the arena, Olaf didn’t give up the fight. Long after there were no allies left to benefit from his healing magic, he battled on.

Finally as the sun set, Olaf fell. Set on by hundreds and laying amidst thousands of fallen enemies, Olaf closed his eyes smiling at the arena he’d built over his lifetime of hard work. He had done all he could, and he’d die happy here.

The smile fell off of Olaf’s face as he emerged from The Summoning Portal.

It would seem that Malum’s war had stolen the end of his story as well.

Green Tournament Champion: Olaf

Olaf is one of the last of the great Forest Wardens. Hailing from the great tree-covered wilderness of the north, this proud, ancient people valued two things above all else: community and combat. Olaf dedicated his life to the glory of battle, constructing the great wilderness fortress of Eventide Arena and ruling as its Champion for decades.

Olaf is the master of the Ability Harmony. Using this technique, he is able to quickly fire a blast from his spear which will strike multiple enemies. Channeling the ancient power of the Wardens, the recoil from his blast sends a wave of healing energy to his allies. Olaf is also able to draw from the residual power in his staff to augment his own natural healing.

Olaf will arrive on Thursday, October 12th in time for the next Tournament event. Are you ready for glorious combat?

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Ulixar

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Ulixar

The new Hero Ulixar will arrive soon, just in time for this weekend’s Dragon Strike.

The wounded just kept coming. The battle against this new Drak was not going well it would seem.

Ulixar longed to be on the front lines where he felt he could do the most good, but he was chain-bound to the Conclave of the Tides — he must go where ordered. Trapped here instead of with the vanguard… this was just a ramshackle fort for nearby civilians to shelter. They had never planned it to be the battlefield hospital it had become.

Ulixar stooped over a Guardian lying on a cushion of flour sacks in the corner. His assistant was an accomplished healer, but this one would not make it. They couldn’t waste any more medicine. Calling on his own skills, he dulled her pain before moving to the next patient.

Ulixar let out a dry, rasping cough. He heard it echoed all around the room from countless mouths. It wasn’t just burns and wounds these soldiers were returning with. He had seen clean wounds fester in front of his eyes and watched minorly injured knights die of respiratory infection mere hours after arriving.

He’d heard the tales… Elder Blight. What had they awakened in the mountains?

Ulixar walked down the hall to his own bedroom. They’d managed to fit four wounded in his rather modest quarters. One of the generals currently occupied his bed. The man was silent and cold.

Ulixar sat down for a moment… unconcerned with the eerily still man next to him. Another massive coughing fit. They were coming more frequently. His head spun. “So this is how it ends,” he said to himself, fiddling with the chain around his neck.

Just as he thought he may lay down and rest awhile, a faint blue light began to form at his chest. Delicate sparks began to emerge from his chest, pooling in the open air in front of him. As he watched with fascination, the light grew. It gradually engulfed the great chain that had bound his neck for years.

Suddenly, the chain split in two and fell off Ulixar’s neck. He was so dumbfounded, he hadn’t even noticed the portal that had formed in front of him until he held up the pieces of chain to inspect them. “The magic is broken then? I’m… free?”

He dropped the chain where he stood. He could hear birds and feel sunlight coming through the portal. He took one last look at the dark, death and disease around him before eagerly plunging into the mysterious light.

Blue Dragon Slayer Hero: Ulixar

Ulixar is a defensive bulwark, and not just behind tall walls. He is himself a living, breathing fortress capable of bolstering the defenses of allies against nearly any threat.

Ulixar is a master of the Ability Sanctuary. Focusing his will, he layers potent protective wards on all allies, increasing defenses against both attack and Abilities. His protective powers are so great that affected allies also feel a heightened sense of awareness during battle, allowing them to dodge incoming attacks with ease.

Ulixar will arrive on Thursday, August 24th for the next Dragon Strike event. Are you ready?

Dragon Slayers, Attack!

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Voltar!

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Voltar!

The all-new hero Voltar will soon arrive through The Summoning Portal in time for this weekend’s Shadowlands Tournament!

Voltar watched the horizon with narrowed eyes. He could feel the energy building up around the tower. No matter how long he kept vigil in the storm, the anticipation of a strike had never ceased to increase his tension. Another problem to solve.

He no longer knew how long he’d been sitting atop this tower. Months? Years? He’d come to the Storm Lands for answers, and he had no plan to leave until he was satisfied.

After so long, why did his body still feel fear in the face of the lightning? Master Tempus had always told him fear was just a reaction to a lack of understanding. Voltar understood the storm. So why was there still fear?

A huge flash. Voltar held out his hand. From the top of the great tower in the center of the plain, the lightning would obey him. The great streak of blinding fire crashed into his hand with power that almost knocked him backwards, off the great tower and to his oblivion below. He quickly closed his fist on the tempest contained within, then without hesitation he smashed the pure force into his forehead.

The world stopped, his eyes blazed like the sun. In that instant… that flash of light… he finally saw it. The fear wasn’t of an unknown fate, but something deeper. He understood now, and he wished he hadn’t.

There was a secret in the lightning as old as time itself… the knowledge that drove the storm to rage, and now he held that terrible truth too. There was no longer any reason to fear. How could any fear greater than this exist now?

As he stood from his meditation for the first time in countless days, still shaken by his revelation, a blue glow suddenly formed in his burned hand. Not lightning, but something equally old, terrible and powerful. He knew it immediately.

“It would seem my exile has ended” he said gazing at the light flowing from his hand. Without hesitation he stepped through the portal now forming in front of him. The light subsided and was quickly eclipsed by a new bolt of lightning striking an empty tower lying alone in the barren wastes.

Yellow Tournament Champion: Voltar

Voltar seeks knowledge and truth, and has sacrificed much to peer into the secrets of the universe. Tormented by the weight of his own wisdom, Voltar is at peace with his own suffering. He has risen above fear, contempt and resentment — a rock amidst the raging tempest. The storm does not consume him, but instead flows through him with unparalleled power.

Voltar is the master of the Ability Chain Strike. Firing but a fraction of the storm within at opponents, he is able to create an arcing band of energy that will damage all enemies and strike his focal point multiple times. While Voltar has discovered the secret to living alongside the power of the storm, his enemies will not be so fortunate.

Voltar will arrive on Thursday, August 17th in time for the next Tournament event. Can you handle the storm?
