New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Ignarok

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Ignarok

The new Hero Ignarok is scorching his way through the summoning portal just in time to help with this weekend’s Dragon Strike!

How could an empty castle be so FILTHY!? Ignarok rested on his broom from his sweeping and let out a deep sigh.

Demon’s Eye Fortress — the most prestigious assignment a young sorcerer could hope for. That’s what they’d all told him, but it wasn’t turning out to be what he thought it’d be as a little cinder dreaming of glory in battle.

At first he’d been delighted by the majesty of the impenetrable fortress… Its battlements and breathtaking fortifications rose high above the crest of the mountain. Sturdy and solid …especially when you considered the bottomless magma pool in which the castle had its foundations.

When he’d gotten here last month it had been a bustling military base, but now nobody lived here. Their stuff still lived everywhere though! Ignarok rested the broom against the wall and went to pick up a discarded knapsack. Some unthinking clod had left this here just spilling all over the stairs. As he was bending to pick it up, he thought better of it. “I don’t suppose they’ll miss it one way or the other.” Flame sprung from his fingers and incinerated the sack readily along with all its contents.

Smiling, he went back to his broom. They’d all left in such a hurry and left the place in a terrible state. At first command had said it was a small troop reallocation. Three platoons gone overnight. A week later it was a redeployment exercise… five platoons.

At the beginning of this month high command announced that due to slight supply issues, they would be gradually shifting to “unmanned defenses” throughout most of the fortress… an entire division gone. It was then down to just Ignarok and a few others.

Samo was the ranking officer at Auxiliary Captain. Ignarok remembered it like yesterday… because it was yesterday. “Iggy,” Samo said. “I’mma take those 6 guys and git before the worst comes, ya? You be nice and toasty here. Ain’t no one getting in. This The Demon’s Eye.”

Ignarok of course thought they were morons, but whatever. He stole all the best stuff and was thinking of this as vacation. Safer in here. Just all this mess!!!

There was a sudden BOOM and the staircase rocked and rumbled. Ignarok tumbled down the stairs. He could hear chunks of rocks falling along with him. His broom struck his head no less than four times on the way down.

Dazed, he finally came to a stop at the bottom of the long winding staircase that led up the North Tower… most of which seemed to no longer be there. BOOM. Rock (what rock was left) started to fall. Time to split.

He ran out into the Phosian courtyard and could hardly believe his eyes. Gigantic boats carrying the symbol of Malum… yet they sailed through the air! Above the lava, they were sailing straight into the main Atrium. The Demon’s Eye was breached!

He had a duty, but he couldn’t resist one or two blasts at the incoming skyships. A few quick flame jets and he’d set dozens of them ablaze. That would buy him a minute.

He ran down through the corridors of the Great Hall. Past the armory, past the infirmary, past even the dungeons. Unlike some of these imbeciles, he’d read his manual. Rule number 3: “If we gonna lose, last one light the fuse”

He was here. The deepest passage in the greatest fortress in the world. No ornate decorations… just dark, hot cave.Through one wall, a long braided cord snaked its way onto the earthen floor. Ignarok blasted it.

As it sparked and sizzled its way towards the rocks obscuring its source, Ignarok’s imagination ran wild. He had no idea what it would do… he was pretty sure no one did. He’d of course be blown to smithereens, but what a boom to be a part of!

The fuse had been through the rocks awhile now, and Ignarok was getting disappointed. Just as he was about to turn away, however, a red glow appeared behind the wall. He braced for an explosion, but it never came. The rocks obscuring the path of the fuse melted to lava before his eyes, and out she came.

He’d heard tales. The legends called her Vulca, The Mother of the Mountain. . She emerged from her cave, free at last and towered over the imp. Her eyes fell to Ignarok.

Ignarok blazed out of the floor of the collapsed North Tower on Dragonback, and made Malum’s ships pay dearly for their assault. Ship after ship burned its way down to the pit of fire by his hand, as the mighty dragon under him clawed and tore others out of the sky.

The entire fleet rained bolt and pellet onto this single Dragon and imp for minutes, yet for what felt like hours they struck terror into the hearts of all Malum’s forces assembled there.

After 62 skyships were torn asunder, the mighty Dragon was struck through the eye. Ignarok and she both descended into the fire where they’d sent so many prey just moments before.

“Are you ok? What’s your name?”

A voice? Wasn’t he dead?

“I’m Calida. It’s ok, you can open your eyes. We need your help.”

Ignarok, Red Dragon Slayer

Ignarok is a simple imp. He likes to burn things, cause mischief… you know, imp stuff. Unlike many of his kind, however, Ignarok has a noble heart. His devotion and selflessness have set him apart from the rest in the past and will again.

Ignarok is a master of the Ability Inferno. This powerful blast of phosphate excreted from the wrists of imps from the far south will ignite anything it touches and do tremendous damage over time. Any protective or otherwise beneficial magic that may have been applied to his enemies will surely burn along with their physical bodies and mana stockpiles.

Ignarok will arrive on Thursday, October 19th for the next Dragon Strike event. Are you ready to burn some stuff with Iggy?

Dragon Slayers, Attack!

As usual with a new Hero, Ignarok will have a 10x modifier to all Tournament and Dragon Strike damage that will scale down gradually to a 5x modifier for the Legendary version.

The Rare Ignarok will have a 5x modifier for all Tournament and Dragon Strike damage that will scale down gradually to a 2x modifier, where it will eventually remain permanently.

Like other Heroes before, Ignarok is available all week as a possible bonus summon and will enter the permanent summoning pool.

Ignarok will be a great help in this weekend’s Dragon Strike. Don’t miss this new hero!

Coming up next week is a Purple Tournament… What hero will be unveiled then?

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Petrra

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Petrra

The new Hero Petrra is popping up through the summoning portal starting this weekend, and her enemies better beware!

This was so much fun!

Petrra’s giggles echoed throughout the caverns… bouncing through the great underground complex so it seemed to Malum’s forces as if they were coming from all around. The waves crashing against the seaside exits seemed to amplify her bell tone laugh, making it something far more terrifying than her actual, girlish cadence. They were beginning to panic. Seeing them scramble around desperately only made Petrra laugh even harder.

The dragons here were Petrra’s family. Well, not her actual family… obviously. Years ago she’d sailed to these caves in search of her first wyrm. What she’d found was her one, true love — a perfect, gorgeous Stalker matriarch.

In those days a terrible civil war had ravaged the caverns. Multiple clans of dragons called these caves home then, and Petrra’s new muse was constantly embattled. Petrra adored her Stalker though. She’d do anything for her. She didn’t have to ask Petrra to kill for her.

It hadn’t taken all that long, and Petrra had grinned ear to ear during the whole labor. She mercilessly stalked through the caves for months, slaying any dragon beyond the protection of her matriarch’s Darkness Clan. She lost count. Funny how that happens.

By now the very bones left in her wake had begun to decompose within the cave. In appreciation of Petrra’s service, the matriarch had accepted her into their clan fully. She’d been living there ever since. Occasionally she’d be required to interact with non-dragon explorers who had ventured too close or sail to a nearby island for supplies, but it had been a mostly peaceful life.

Peaceful had quickly faded into boring, which is why Petrra was having so much fun now! Yes, Malum’s soldiers were here to kill or enslave her family. Yes, she would happily die to defend these depths. But why did that have to make it so serious? Ohhh, the looks on their faces when they whirred round to see her behind them!

Her laughter pierced the silence again. A squad of infantry turned from a nearby tunnel and fled towards the exit in fear. As they crossed her adjoining passage, they were directly between her and the only light. Perfect.

She failed to stifle a laugh as she pointed her staff. ZAAAAAP. Ahhh, she gave herself away! Still, they all fell to the ground temporarily paralyzed. Four more flashes through the dark. Before they managed to stand they were all dead.

More giggles echoing through the dark. Such fun! She ran down the corridor they’d come from to find 3 more stragglers approaching. ZAAAAAAP. Aww, one was getting away!

She laughed as she chased his path fleeing deeper into the cave. He thought he lost her. From her hiding place behind a rock, she covered her mouth. He looked so funny as he searched the darkness for her while gasping for air.

Wait…What was that sound? A hissing echoed through the caves. Someone was running down the passage towards her. No, that was the wrong way! You’re supposed to run OUT! There was a little light trailing behind him. Now it was her turn to squint into the darkness.

It was one of Malum’s soldiers. A huge mass of wood was strapped to his back… bulging every direction. Behind him dangled a little flashing light that seemed to be climbing some sort of string… oh no. The grin finally fell off Petrra’s face. The warrior screamed as he ran towards her.

The explosion rocked the entire cave complex, burying all inside in a mountain of rubble. Malum had won this battle. The matriarch would never terrorize his fleet again.

In the moment of realization as the force of the explosion hit her, it seemed to Petrra she had an eternity to think of her love for the great stalker. She had failed her.

Tears still streamed down her eyes as she stepped through the Summoning Portal. No laughter now.

Malum would pay.

Purple Dragon Slayer Hero: Petrra

Petrra was born to sail the seas, but she found her true home where the heart of the Earth meets the water. Don’t let her small stature and childlike attitude fool you — her magic is very deadly and she is no child.

Petrra is a master of the Ability Seaspell. With blinding speed she can unleash a magical bolt on an opponent that deals massive damage. It’s so powerful that even nearby enemies will find themselves dazed and that any magic they may have been benefiting from has been violently stripped away.

Petrra will arrive on Thursday, October 5th for the next Dragon Strike event. Will you enlist the help of this Dragon Slayer?

Dragon Slayers, Attack!

As usual with a new Hero, Petrra will have a 10x modifier to all Tournament and Dragon Strike damage that will scale down gradually to a 5x modifier for the Legendary version.

The Rare Petrra will have a 5x modifier for all Tournament and Dragon Strike damage that will scale down gradually to a 2x modifier, where it will eventually remain permanently.

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Qyvon

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Qyvon

Bundle up tight, because Qyvon is bringing the chill just in time for this weekend’s Tournament

Qyvon watched as the great catapult creaked violently against its own weight before sliding to a stop in the fresh powder. The sappers scrambled to figure out why they’d stopped. All down the line of Malum’s forces, siege engines followed suit. Each came to a stop just below the foothills of the great mountain.

The wind grew by the moment. Ice blasted down its howling currents, stinging and obscuring vision. The wooden wheels of the siege machines had never felt cold like this and had finally reached their breaking point… worn down by the icy chill.

Throughout Malum’s force, commanders struggled to see their own troops. Lips turned blue. Frosty winds cracked and split skin. Atop a ridge just a short way in front of the line, however, Qyvon watched the chaos unbothered by the cold.

Their machines were stopped, their forces breaking. He hadn’t even helped the chill very much. Winter, his lifelong ally, made this battle short work.

This war, however, would not be won by some frost. “Ice doesn’t stop dragons” he muttered to himself as he watched the army begin to break into a rout without ever having encountered an enemy.

He breathed deeply of the frozen air around him and channeled even more force into the cold. He didn’t have long.

As if answering his thoughts, a piercing scream came from the clouds above him. He could tell from the direction of its movement that he’d been detected.

He had a good vantage from his ridge. The army was in full retreat, so they wouldn’t interfere. It emerged from the clouds like a shooting star… indeed coming straight for him. A lifedrinker. Qyvon’s heart sank as he looked around the mountain he’d called home for over four decades. “Goodbye my friend. A lifetime well spent.”

The dragon raced towards him. Qyvon shot bolt after bolt of ice at it but the dragon lithely dodged each without altering its momentum towards the lone knight. His axe fell to his side momentarily as he stared at the dragon, lost in thought. He’d expended too much of his power on the army… but all that frost was still here.

Not long now. Qyvon held his axe high above his head. The frosty air circled around him… mist spiraling into an icy vortex around his outstretched arm. The approaching dragon‘s scream was deafening now.

“For the mountain!” Qyvon howled with all his might as he let out the blast of icy winds. Mere drakelengths away, the dragon tried to cry out in pain only to find its jaws frozen shut. A mighty crash echoed through the tundra as a gargantuan mass of ice collided with a lone knight on the slopes of the great mountain.

It was too warm. Too bright. What was this? Where was he?

“Hello Qyvon. My name is Solana. Help us crush Malum, then we can retake your mountain together.”

It was too hot here… but it was already starting to feel like home.

Blue Tournament Champion: Qyvon

Qyvon was a great champion in his youth, but long ago he retired to the great Spire of Winter for a quiet life of contemplation as its protector. Qyvon likes the quiet, and the cold brings all to silence. His cold is patient. Ice overtakes everything eventually.

Qyvon is a master of the Ability Hailstorm. Calling cold from the surrounding area to focus on one point, he is able to generate a flash freeze amongst a group of enemies. This delays his opponents’ actions while deep frostbite takes a heavy toll on them

Qyvon will arrive on Thursday, September 28th in time for the next Tournament! Are you ready?

Tournament Champions at the Ready!

As usual with a new Hero, Qyvon will have a 10x modifier to all Tournament and Dragon Strike damage that will scale down gradually to a 5x modifier for the Legendary version.

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Yormag

New Dragon Slayer Reveal: Yormag

The new legendary Hero Yormag arrives soon, ready for this week’s Dragon Strike!

Yormag stay. No one pass.

Yormag knew he wasn’t very good at thinking, but he knew what King Leonas told him. “Yormag, you stay. No one gets past until morning.”

Yormag loved his king. He always did what he said. This was a very important job they had said. The King must be proud of Yormag if he gave it to him.

It had been nearly the entire night, and still, no one had passed.

The gateway was littered with enemy soldiers. The mean Malum men had killed a lot of his friends. Yormag was happy the King had asked him to do this.

A commotion was coming from down the narrow cliff ledge that led to the gate. Yormag tossed aside bodies at his feet, inspecting broken weapon after broken weapon for something usable.

No time. Forty… fifty? Counting always made Yormag’s head hurt. They were already charging up the hill towards the gate.

The men rushed towards the marble pillars, yelling at Yormag. Yormag’s ears were ringing. He wanted them to stop.

THUD — three men kicked off the ledge. POW — two more crushed under a thrown comrade.

Yormag didn’t give an inch.

Dozens of men charged and were repelled, falling to or fleeing from this immovable mountain. Then, they all heard the sound together. An approaching, repetitive thump that gave hope to Malum’s troops… but not quite the despair they thought it would to brave Yormag.

Cheers went up from the attacking soldiers as the manslayer approached. Its rider raised his fist triumphantly as he bolted down towards this single soldier obstructing the path of his army. Yormag was not afraid.

“Dragon BAD!” As the dragon approached at blinding speed, Yormag caught it by its mighty jaws… only sliding back slightly on the dusty ground as he halted the beast in its tracks. “King say NO! ONE! PASS!!!!”

With a great effort he whipped the dragon’s neck to the side, sending it careening into the great pillar to his left. He jumped onto it and began pounding its belly with his fist.

The dragon struggled frantically at this tiny, confusingly powerful man. As he tried to escape the blows, his tail whipped against the opposite pillar. There was a great crack and a short moment of silence as soldiers and dragon alike looked up just in time to see their fate.

The gate crashed down on all. None would pass this night.

From under a pile of rubble — filled with arrows and slices from axe and blade –Yormag peered through the unimaginable weight of the stones covering him.

There it was. A twinkle of sunlight on the horizon. “None pass until morning” Yormag muttered to himself as his adrenaline began to fade. As he gazed at the twinkle of a new morning, another light pierced his fading vision… a warm blue glow. To him, it seemed as if the rocks themselves were glowing.

He suddenly felt like the rocks around him were slipping free. He made one desperate jerk towards the blue light.

“You did good Yormag.” He opened his eyes emerging from a strange door in a calm meadow. Was that the voice of the king!? “You can rest later. There’s more work here that we need you for.”

The King smiled. Yormag was so very happy to see him smile.

Yellow Dragon Slayer Hero: Yormag

Yormag is a mountain of a man. Usually a gentle giant, those who attack him or his friends rarely get far… and sometimes even have a few moments to regret their foolish choices before he makes them pay.

Yormag is a master of the Ability Spike Guard. His mighty armor can be temporarily empowered to provide powerful protections to Yormag and his allies, while also biting back hard at any opponent who dares throw attacks his way.

Yormag will arrive on Thursday, September 21st for the next Dragon Strike event. Will you be ready?

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Yamari

New Tournament Champion Reveal: Yamari

The new red Hero Yamari is coming through the Summoning Portal just in time for this weekend’s Tournament!

Yamari blinked as a bead of sweat slid down his brow into his eye. He glanced around him at the desert. How long had he been waiting? He was so thirsty, but he must keep up his concentration. The ritual wasn’t yet complete.

In front of him, the great stone spire rose from the barren sand. Yamari had performed the annual dedication at this altar since he was a small boy. He’d never thought himself very important, but he knew this time the ritual was different.

This altar belonged to Haaratta — the goddess of the earth and all that burns. The beacon ceremony had been his family’s responsibility for centuries. Each year, the ritual ensured that the magic granted to the Cult of Harratta continued to flow through them. Usually this was formality. He shuddered to think about the consequences if the holy fire suddenly left the world.

“Monk! Stop!” A voice beyond the tower rang out in the empty desert. Yamari’s tired eyes struggled against the sun. There. To the west. A heavily armored fighter was approaching. A helmet of polished obsidian sat atop his head, and he pointed a deadly 5-pronged Spear. Yamari’s heart sank. One of Malum’s honor guard.

“Stay demon!” Yamari stiffened his shoulders and puffed his chest. Exhausted though he may be, he was an Archon of Haaratta and he would stand tall. “It is my holy duty to light this beacon as my father did. Woe betide any who stand in my way.”

The warrior stopped a wyrmlength from Yamari. “My people suffer. Their flesh burns. You will not light this beacon.”

Yamari sized his opponent up. He was outmatched. His humble robes couldn’t compare to full armor and weaponry, but this beacon must be lit. Millions of lives could depend on it.

“Walk away holy man. You don’t need to die here today.”

Still a few minutes left, but it would have to do — may Harratta forgive him. “I am Yamari, son of Yuri. This beacon shall light, and none shall stand in my way.”

The warrior grinned and began to charge. Yamari fixed his eyes on the beacon far above the desert. One chance. He began to chant under his breath, beginning the last step of the ritual.

“For the glory of Malum!” shouted the villain as he charged with spear brandishing. Yamari paid no attention. His thoughts were on the beacon above him, the fire within him, and his darling son he was certain he wouldn’t see again.

Yamari’s eyes snapped back to the oncoming spear. Timing would be paramount. He was ready. Harratta was ready.

The vicious tip of the spear lunged towards him. Encountering no armor, the multiple flailed points bit deep into his gut. Yamari struggled to keep his wits… such pain. Harratta grant him strength.

Yamari cocked back his hand with great effort. The warrior twisted the blade to finish the kill, but Yamari was strong. He stared into the eyes of his attacker and uttered one phrase that he’d said dozens of times before, but never felt it like today, “Let Harrata’s purifying light fill me, that all the world may burn with her love.”

The last line spoken, he raised his hand toward the beacon.

A beam of the purest light shot from his bloody and clenched fist. The blast shot towards the beacon. Its light would be blocked by nothing, and Yamari’s attacker was instantly reduced to ash in the wind. The beacon burst into flame. It was done.

Yamari crumpled to the desert ground. His work done, he thought of his family. Of his son who would fill this sacred role next year. Just as he expected the darkness to come though, a gentle blue light appeared in his wound, spreading gradually.

The pain began to subside. “The Summoning Portal? Am I truly worthy?” His eyes fixed on the beacon’s fire. “Thank you my goddess. I continue to serve you, even after death.” Yamari stood up and walked towards the portal.

Red Tournament Champion: Yamari

Yamari long left the roar of the Tournament crowd behind for a life of simple monastic reverence. Once a champion though… always a champion. Hiding under Yamari’s simple and compassionate exterior is a man with unending resolve. He enters battle without fear, and wields the divine power of his goddess with deadly aptitude.

Yamari is a master of the Blinding Light. Calling down Harratta’s purification on his opponent, he is able to deal tremendous damage to a single enemy, also dazing it and its allies to limit their ability use. Yamari fears no counterattack from any opponent.

Yamari will arrive on Thursday, September 14th in time for the next Tournament! Are you ready?

Tournament Champions at the Ready!

As usual with a new Hero, Yamari will have a 10x modifier to all Tournament and Dragon Strike damage that will scale down gradually to a 5x modifier for the Legendary version.
