Santa Claus is Coming To Town Star

Santa’s sleigh is packed with new buildings, new NFTs, and new ways to get rewards!

We hope you all have had a ton of fun collecting those Enchanted Ornaments and decorating for the most wonderful time of the year. Remember, that massive seasonal gameplay boost for collecting the whole set of 12 Enchanted Ornaments will last until the end of January, so you can still get in on plenty of holiday Town Star cheer!

Learn how you can get a FREE NORTH POLE CREATION LAB below…

Epic and Rare Packs are sold out, but if you hurry you can still get your mittens on an Uncommon Pack in the Town Star store.

Now that we’ve sufficiently decked the halls, let’s take a look at what the rest of December has in store for the Town Star world.

Streamlining Christmas

Here’s the deal. With so many new players, such unpredictable weather, and the increasingly high standards of Christmas lists from the good girls and boys of the Web3 world, Santa is ready to make some changes. As a player of Town Star, this will benefit you, because Santa Claus is (quite literally) coming to town.

Let’s be honest. The North Pole wasn’t the most efficient choice for his operation, and Santa completely understands how much Town Star fans care about efficiency.

Santa Claus is ready to set up a Factory in your town.

Learn how you can get a FREE NORTH POLE CREATION LAB below…

3 Buildings and a Gift

Each of the four buildings listed below will be available in-game for all players to use and explore, but special NFT versions of each building will be sold or distributed in limited quantities. Each building has a specific rarity, with the Legendary Santa’s Factory at the rarity apex of the set.

Epic Master Wizard

Santa Claus couldn’t possibly join the Town Star fun without bringing along some serious magic, so we’re taking the opportunity to introduce a new type of creation: Mystical Crafts!

The Master Wizard uses his astounding knowledge of the mystical arts to produce advanced creations, often using the help of his Wizards Workshop! This Epic Master Wizard works for reduced wages and moves more quickly than his standard in-game counterpart. Plus, he likes to keep his tower warm so you won’t get any chills in the Epic Master Wizard’s proximity.

Rare Wizards Workshop

The Wizards Workshop is a place of wonder, where you might feel a bit of a chill from Professor Skid, The Enchanted Snowman who acts as the Master Wizard’s leading apprentice. When you own the Rare Wizards Workshop NFT, Professor Skid will work more quickly and for reduced wages.

Like any good snowman, Professor Skid keeps the place nice and cold.

HINT: Temperature will play an important role in new types of crafting.

Legendary Santa’s Factory

Santa’s Factory is where the Christmas magic will really happen, as wonderful presents are cranked out continuously by the tireless elves. There’s no limit to how hard Santa’s Elves will work, and they don’t even mind the cold!

When you own the Legendary NFT version of Santa’s Factory, you’ll get the help of the Legendary Elf Foreman, who takes fewer wages and works faster than his standard in-game counterpart.

Rare North Pole Creation Lab

The North Pole Creation Lab was designed to bring a little of Santa’s magic home into your Town Star gameplay. It seeks to provide new creations and innovations for the whole world of Town Star, by adding bits of North Pole magic into some goods and crafts you’d least expect.

When you own the Rare North Pole Creation Lab, you’ll get a Santa who works for a little less and brings an extra feeling of cold with him.

A Free NFT

To qualify for a FREE NORTH POLE CREATION LAB, you must purchase each of the other three items in the set: The Epic Master Wizard, the Rare Wizards Workshop, and the Legendary Santa’s Factory.

The Rare North Pole Creation Lab is important in ways that we cannot tell about just yet. Trust us, it will be more fun this way.

Epic Master Wizard drops on Monday, December 5th at 12pm PT.

Each of the following Mondays, another item will drop in the Town Star store. Then on Monday, December 26th, all accounts that purchased an item from each sale will receive the Rare North Pole Creation Lab.*

*The Rare North Pole Creation Lab will not be sold individually in the store, and its supply will be limited to this 2022 holiday promotion. 1 Rare North Pole Creation Lab will be distributed for every set (1 Epic Master Wizard, 1 Rare Wizards Workshop, 1 Legendary Santa’s Factory) purchased in the primary sale.

The Biggest Town Star Item Giveaway Yet!

The Biggest Town Star Item Giveaway Yet!

Town Star just gave away a huge pile of in-game items to Founder’s Node operators, then burned the surplus.

TL;DR

  • Town Star is really growing.
  • A large quantity of unsold game items has been permanently burned.
  • 2.5% of the burn list was instead given as rewards to Founder’s Node operators.

Town Star Memories

Town Star is the flagship game of Gala Games, and the very beginning of our player-empowering Web3 vision in action.

The first players of Town Star will always fondly remember its early days. As the game continues to evolve, you’ll be able to look back and see the fascinating journey of Town Star as a reflection of the much larger Web3 paradigm shift happening all over the world.

Getting nostalgic about Town Star doesn’t mean that we’re taking it easy at all. Gala Games has huge plans for its flagship game of town and city builders.

The Town Star team is hard at work, rebuilding the game on newer, more advanced tech, with tons of exciting changes! Some of these plans are currently taking shape before your eyes, and others are shared directly with the community in the weekly Friday Discord AMA.

Economic Adjustments

As originally announced in this article from July, major economic updates are on their way to Town Star, designed carefully to stay up-to-date in this rapidly changing industry while promoting the ecosystem’s long-term sustainability.

Today, we’re announcing one of these economic changes in action.

What Happened?

On 10/19, there was a Town Star item bonfire, the likes of which we’ve never seen before.

We have previously stated these items were minted in surplus, and that problem would be rectified with a large virtual bonfire. This is that bonfire.

In this burn, certain in-game Town Star items were permanently destroyed.

Check out the Ethscan link below for a complete list of Town Star items that were burned. Prepare for some strangely mixed emotions as you look at the list.

The Burn List

But Wait… There’s More…

We didn’t actually burn them all. The Town Star team set aside exactly 2.5% of the total items to be burned. Then we distributed them to the operators of active Founder’s Nodes as a daily distribution reward.

Why?

Why Give Anything Away?

We love to look for opportunities to reward our community, especially our early adopters and Founder’s Node operators. Early adopter rewards can often be greater than rewards for those who arrive later, so we want to offer as many of these early adopter rewards as possible.

If we find a way to hook you up in a responsible and sustainable way, we’ll always take it.

Why Founder’s Nodes?

We are proud of the decentralized gaming Ecosystem we’re creating together, and our Founder’s Node operators live at the core of our success. We have always said that to operate a Gala Games Founder’s Node is to step up and power this network, and we could not be more grateful for our pioneering Founder’s Node operators.

This surprise distribution is just another example of the ways Founder’s Node operators can earn rewards for their important contributions to the Gala Games Ecosystem.

Why Not Town Star Nodes?

We understand that this announcement may sting a bit for those who operate Town Star Nodes, but not Founder’s Nodes, and we’d like to offer a few reminders of what we continue to work towards.

Your time will come — As mentioned above, Gala Games loves to reward early adopters. If you own a license and operate a Town Star Node today, you are an early adopter. With Town Star Nodes still less than a year old, you’re even earlier than Founder’s Node operators. Your Nodes will have their time, and your rewards will come.

Other plans — Town Star Nodes have their own development plans for workloads, rewards, and utility, so attaching an unanticipated item distribution to their operation would have been irresponsible. Additionally, item distributions have long been established as a reward mechanic for active Founder’s Node operators.

People would miss out — Because TOWN distribution is currently paused, Town Star Node operators have a greatly reduced incentive to operate their Nodes right now. As a result, too few Town Star Nodes would be active for a fair distribution of rewards in this way.

What’s Happening in Town?

If the creepy fall chills weren’t warning enough, Halloween is coming. The Farmer has donned his yearly jack o’lantern helmet, and is now hard at work on his Haunted Maze — a Halloween decoration gone incredibly wrong.

Learn more about the Haunted Maze and other Halloween fun in THIS ARTICLE, and collect all four pieces of the Haunted Maze to more than double the in-game bonus!

The Haunted Maze | Town Star Halloween

The Haunted Maze | Town Star Halloween

Introducing the newest Town Star item, with spine-tingling passive abilities… If you build it, they will scream.

The leaves have almost fallen, giving the trees a sharp and desolate appearance as throughout town, everyone prepares for the chill of winter. The aroma of pumpkin spice wafts through town square, following a pumpkin harvest that was especially plentiful due to all that additional pumpkin storage going around.

While in town they’re getting ready for winter and making pumpkin pie, the most serious Town Star competitors are gearing up for Halloween and the eagerly anticipated Jack O’Lantern Meta!

Check out this sweet Halloween eye candy while you hone in your pumpkin game for next week’s Jack O’Lantern Meta, freshly leaked from this morning’s live Town Star Discord AMA (Youtube replay coming soon).

At Gala Games, we’re a bunch of big kids at heart, and we love Halloween. You may remember last year’s Galaween festivities, complete with some Town Star themed spooky stories and the Haunted Mansion, the game’s first ever modular in-game item with the power to produce passive oil or pumpkins.

We’re happy to announce that this year we’ve got another spooky modular adornment for your Town Star town. Step into the shadows of the Haunted Maze, if you dare.

First, let’s just get this out of the way: It’s haunted. Please don’t come crying to us when this thing haunts your dreams and you end up a character in some kind of bizarre IRL horror movie.

The Haunted Maze is no less haunted than last year’s Haunted Mansion, and that thing was pretty haunted.

Like with any good haunting, the power of all the curses, ghosts, and tormented poultrygeists continues to grow as their territory expands. That’s why there’s an exclusive Double, Double, Toil and Trouble Bonus for collecting and concurrently playing with all 4 Haunted Maze Zones.

The first Zone you’ll see in the Town Star store is the Epic Zone 1, with its passive Nectar bonus to 3 tiles.

Finding Your Way

The Haunted Maze consists of 4 zones, each more frightening than the last.

Haunted Maze — Zone 1 — Epic

3 Passive Nectar

First, venture bravely but with trepidation into Zone 1, with a little taste of all the frights you can expect as you venture through the twisted maze. Giant carnivorous plants produce passive nectar for your bees to enjoy, but beware! If you should turn your back on one of these monstrosities while standing too close, it will gobble you up head first before you can say “suddenly seymour.”

Haunted Maze — Zone 2 — Rare

2 Passive Clay

Next, if you can keep your terror in check, proceed toward Zone 2, where the living dead are quite helpful in the sense that they displace the clay-filled soil in which their corpses laid. Even the clay is hexed, causing it to expand to neighboring areas, but don’t worry. You can still use it just like normal clay.

Haunted Maze — Zone 3 — Legendary

Salty Proximity (for Salt Field timers — 2 radius)

Now your heart is really pounding as you head into Zone 3, the Legendary zone where the unattended witches’ brew has taken on a mind of its own, casting a bizarre spell on the ground and making it especially salty. Why is it Legendary? The legend says the witches will one day return to claim the potions they have been brewing since long before Halloween. The legend also says they’ll turn all the townsfolk into badgers, so let’s hope that brew stays unattended.

Haunted Maze — Zone 4 —Uncommon

1 Passive Nectar

Note: Above image incorrectly says “Rare.” We know and will change it soon.

You may think you can take no more, but only a single piece of the terrifying puzzle remains: Zone 4. In Zone 4 resides the great hollow tree, likely the creepiest tree you’ll ever see in a light-hearted game like Town Star. They say that within the tree lies the same sinister force that gives life to the carnivorous plants of Zone 1, so this zone also provides some passive nectar that your town’s bees can enjoy.

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble

Own and use all four separate zones of the Haunted Maze to double the eerie passive bonuses for surrounding areas. You don’t even have to place them next to each other. Just the sight of these 4 Zones at once will startle all your cows and sheep* into moving 25% faster.

*In an ironic twist, your chickens are especially brave and will not be scared into moving faster.

This is Town Star Halloween!

Town Star Seasonal Art Project

Town Star Seasonal Art Project

Hot outside? Enjoy some Town Star Winter community art from last year!

Time for a Christmas throwback from 2021!

Risk of Winter Art Attack

As some of you may remember, around Christmas time of last year, there was mention of a Community Art Project: Town Star Winter. We asked that our amazing community show off its creativity by creating art using any type of media available, on the themes of Town Star and winter.

We received numerous submissions and they were incredible. Unfortunately, with internal team movement the easel was folded up, stuck in a closet and the project was just a colorful memory. We completely forgot to share the most awesome entries. 🤦‍♂️

And the Winners Are…..

As mentioned in the original blog, there aren’t any official prizes for submissions. We just wanted to see what our community could do with their creativity, and boy did you come through. There were so many great submissions but we had to narrow it down to our top 10 favorites. If you see these artists around the Gala community chats, make sure you congratulate them on their sweet creations and encourage them to make more! And they are, in no particular order.

Note: Although we mentioned in the original post that we would share the Discord names of the artists, we felt that seemed impolite 9 months later without current permission, so we have left out the names of the artists.

Even Greater Than the Sum of Our Arts

We still want to see your creative juices flowing. In the future there will be more chances to show off the Leonardo da Vincis we all have within us. Stay tuned for more information regarding the Community Art Project.
