Legends Reborn: Creature Packs and Alpha Test

Legends Reborn: Creature Packs and Alpha Test

A familiar item in Legends Reborn gets a fresh new name, and we share more details about our alpha playtest!

For months, players have been enjoying new Creatures created by hard working tokensmiths from across the land. The demand for these Ritual Stones has been so high that the largest tokensmith unions across Tolkheim are reporting a lack of the specific stone to continue producing Ritual Stones!

This doesn’t mean players will have to do without Creatures though! Tokensmiths everywhere are continuing to create packs of Creatures, though they’re getting away from the restrictive name of “Ritual Stone” since they’re now imbuing more traditional materials with these popular bundles.

“So basically, if we can’t get those stones from our source, we’ll just make Creature Packs the old fashioned way. People want their Creatures, they’re not all hung up on some special rock.”

-Cab Stallo, representative; Tokeneers local #7

Everyone will still receive the same great creatures from these Creature Packs that they have from Ritual Stones in the past!

Reintroducing: Creature Packs

In the past we introduced Ritual Stones — a magically imbued bundle containing three random Creatures. From this week on, these will now be referred to as “Creature Packs.” This is both for max clarity to players and to allow Tolkheim’s talented tokensmiths a little more flexibility in their crafting.

Every “Basic Ritual Stone” will now be called a “Creature Pack”

Every “Elite Ritual Stone” will now be called an “Epic Creature Pack”

Creature Packs are functionally the same as Ritual Stones– only the name has changed!

Everything you loved about Ritual Stones will remain the same. They can still be purchased in the Gala Games store, and any Ritual Stones you had in your inventory will change to the new Creature Pack names. They will still provide the same array of randomized Creatures when exchanged in your Gala Games inventory.

A Creature Pack contains three random Creatures of Common, Uncommon, Rare or Epic rarity. An Epic Creature Pack contains three Creatures — each guaranteed to be Epic, Legendary or Ancient rarity!

Creatures in Legends Reborn

In Legends Reborn, you summon Creatures to fight against your opponent. Your Creatures use Action Cards to square off against whatever your opponent brings to the table. These are in-game inventory items, though you can use a Scroll of Minting to tokenize them and trade with other players.

The first Scrolls of Minting were distributed during this year’s May Mayhem.

Each Creature has its own strengths and weaknesses — the wider variety of Creatures you can choose from, the more diverse strategies you could potentially play with. While a lot of strategy in Legends Reborn comes from which Creatures you use, the Action Cards you pair with your Creatures often refine your strategy. In the end, they could determine your fate at the table.

Every Creature can pair with up to six Action Cards through Improved Card Slots. Higher rarity Creatures have access to extra Improved Card Slots, which potentially let that creature access a wider variety of Action Cards.

Enter the Alpha Arena

The Legends Reborn alpha test started Today, October 20th at 12pm PT! Are you ready?

We’re excited for the community to really dig into this alpha build and see what the team at Kung Fu Factory has been working on! Players will have plenty of opportunity to compete for glory on the leaderboard during this test. The leaderboard will reset each week, which gives everyone multiple chances to fight for the top spot! Each reset, the top 10 players will earn the Legend of the Tables Discord roles.

The first week’s leaderboard will reset on October 27th, at 9:59am PT.

Players will be able to dust off their Venues and welcome contenders in the door during this test! Venue implementation is still limited, but this is a great first step towards your Venue feeling like a real place in Tolkheim.

You can check out more about how Venues will be used in the game from the recent Venue Spotlight below!

With this Alpha test getting started, keep your eyes open for more updates coming soon. There’s so much we’re excited to share with you as development progresses.

Check us out on Discord or follow us here for the latest news. See you at the tables!

Legends Reborn — Ritual Stone Sale

Legends Reborn — Ritual Stone Sale

It’s time to start building your deck, and our first Creature sale is the best time to grab the backup you need at the tables.

Creature Ritual Stones

Competitors of Tolkheim! It’s time to start crafting your deck with our first Creature Sale!

For this sale, we’ll be debuting 40 Creature types in randomized Creature Ritual Stones. Some of these will be released for purchase via whitelist immediately, with a public sale following shortly after on the third day of Galaverse.

The Creatures

Creatures come in 6 rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Ancient. Higher rarity creatures give larger multipliers to AP earned for a win, but rarity also is important for how you play your Creatures.

Each creature’s starting level is determined by their rarity, along with the number of Improved Card Slots (place where action cards are attached to a creature). Creatures’ max level is 60, and players will eventually be able to level up their creatures using the not yet minted native token of Legends Reborn. This feature likely will not be available at release though, which means that a higher rarity Creature gets you a head start on what tactics are available to you, and your grind towards high level Creatures.

Every Creature has a max capacity of six Action Cards, meaning that throughout the leveling process a Common Creature would have six separate occasions where a Card Slot is improved. Higher rarity Creatures will start with some or all of their Card Slots improved already. Some levels during your grind on a Creature will result in an Improved Card Slot, where some levels will result in Action Cards being added to your inventory.

As we’ve discussed previously, Action Cards are acquired as in game items gradually as you play Legends Reborn. Leveling Creatures so that they can utilize a wide variety of Action Cards will give you the versatile tactics you’ll need to dominate the tables in Tolkheim. Since Creatures can also be rented to other players, expanding each Creature’s Improved Card Slots can make your Creatures more sought after and desirable throughout the Legends Reborn community.

Creature Sale

The Creature Pack sale will have two stages, featuring both Basic Ritual Stones and Elite Ritual Stones. Both will contain up to three random creatures from 40 different types that are available.

A Basic Ritual Stone contains Creatures with Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Epic rarities. Basic boxes will contain three items in total which are typically Creatures, but there is a small chance to discover an Elite Ritual Stone hiding within in place of one Creature!

An Elite Ritual Stone contains three Creatures that are a;; Epic, Legendary, or Ancient rarity. As creatures level they will receive extra Action Cards periodically. High rarity Creatures will get these Action Cards right away based on their starting level, meaning they can use those Improve Card Slots right away to employ a wider variety of tactics through different Action Cards.

Each Ritual Stone can be opened on an exchange site after the initial whitelist sale. Our plan is currently to release this exchange on June 8th alongside the release of the public sale– keep your eyes peeled for more information as the exchange approaches.

Elite Ritual Stones

Each phase of the Elite Ritual Stone sale will be initiated with 24 hours between them, with a fixed number of Ritual Stones being available to specific whitelisted groups throughout.

  1. Galaverse Attendees and Ticket holders- 400 Elite Ritual Stones available for $1000 each.
  2. Founder’s Node License Holders- 800 Elite Ritual Stones available for $1500 each.
  3. Gala Gold Members-1600 Elite Ritual Stones available for $2000 each.

Basic Ritual Stones

Each phase of the Basic Ritual Stone sale will have tiered pricing, with a fixed number of Ritual Stones available at each tier. These will be available starting on Wednesday, June 9th at 4:45AM PT and the price will progress automatically as each tier is depleted. Every Basic Ritual Stone purchased in this sale has the same chance.

Tier 1- 850 Basic Ritual Stones available for $300 each.

Tier 2- 1,700 Basic Ritual Stones available for $400 each.

Tier 3- 2,550 Basic Ritual Stones available for $500 each.

Tier 4- 3,462 Basic Ritual Stones available for $600 each.

Each Basic or Elite Ritual Stone will have the same chances of revealing great Creatures as others of the same type, regardless of which tier it is purchased in.

A Call to Arms

Make sure to get into the sale early and grab the best deals. Don’t wait to ensure that you have what it takes to defend your honor and achieve glory at the tables across Tolkheim!

May Mayhem Strikes Legends Reborn

May Mayhem Strikes Legends Reborn

The most rewarding month in the history of Gala Games continues with another surprise NFT drop!

Great News for the Venue owners of Tolkheim! A new NFT drop is coming your way. Whether you currently own that little Dive Tavern by the docks, the Backwater Arena just outside the city, or the Grandest of Ancient Coliseums, you will be receiving Scrolls of Minting for the good sense you had picking up those Venues. The rarer your Venue, the more Scrolls will be dropped to you.

Before we tell you about the new stuff, let’s make sure you are caught up with the old stuff.

The World of Tolkheim

Legends Reborn is a noble pursuit throughout the world of Tolkhiem, and those who host the card matches play a critical role in society. As conflicts great and small are solved at the tables, Venue owners have a pivotal role to play. Hard-working owners who strive to make their Venues the greatest in the realm can reap the rewards of fame, fortune, and influence.

Back to Basics

Legends Reborn is a P2E Card Game where players create decks of Creatures and Heroes to use in battle against other players for a chance to earn daily rewards. Each creature can be equipped with a wide variety of Action Cards to add another layer of strategy to the game.

There are arenas all across Tolkheim where the card battles take place, from which the owners of the arenas take a cut of all rewards. Speaking of rewards, back to the reason we’re here- the free NFT that the owners of all Venues received!

Behold! A Scroll of Minting!

The Scroll of Minting

As part of the base game, you spend in-game currency to get Action Card Packs. These cards are not on-chain, and exist strictly as a game item. Scrolls of Minting, however, can be read to tokenize an Action Card into an NFT so it can be sold or traded in the marketplace.

Each action card can be attached to a creature. The rarer the creature, the more Action Cards you can attach to them. Decks are always limited in how many cards they can have, but this gives you far more options for how to craft your deck’s unique strategy.

Creatures are sold in randomized Gacha-style packs, and will not come with their own Action Cards. This means strategically acquiring the perfect Action Cards is one of the most important way to beef up your deck’s strength.

Action cards will also have rarity in and of themselves, so saving your Scrolls for the best Action Cards you find may give you a bit of an edge over the competition!

With the ability to transform these in-game Action Cards into full-fledged NFTs, Legends Reborn is pushing the boundaries of the normal way web3 gaming functions, and giving players more options on how they play their game.

Legends Reborn — Decks Ahoy!

Legends Reborn — Decks Ahoy!

Build your perfect Legends Reborn Deck and get it into the next playtest!

Legends Reborn is a collectible card game where you test your cards against other players across Tolkhiem for riches and glory. One thing CCGs offer that keeps us min-maxers and statistic-fiends coming back every time is building your perfect deck, and Legends Reborn boasts a lot of strategy in that regard.

Finding which cards synergize together to create powerful combos can be a tricky thing sometimes. Experimentation with cards and abilities can be a long, grueling process… Other times the developers of the game may give you an awesome spreadsheet where you can test out decks on your own to see how they look.

Oh hey, I have one of those right here!

The Deck Bible

Just make a copy of that handbook to have your own personal card compendium that you can experiment with, take notes in, or even doodle in the margins of.

Feel free to check that out while you pop back and forth between this article and the spreadsheet.

You are going to pop back and forth, right? Right?

Why Are Decks Such a Big Deal?

You mean aside from deck building being a crucial part of gameplay? Well, I’m talking about them today because the Legends Reborn team wants you all to try making your own decks. Specifically, they want you to request decks for future playtests and demos!

Up until now, the decks available for the demo have been limited to what they made themselves. And that’s alright, they know what they are doing with their own game of course. But you know what works great? Having hundreds and thousands of you pooling those beautiful brains together to come up with new, unique, and interesting builds.

Anyone who submits a deck on or before May 25th may get to see their deck in action during Galaverse in June! If you’d like to take a little more time with your strategizing– that’s fine too. Get a deck to the fine folks at Kung Fu Factory by June 3rd and you may get to play your deck in the next playtest build after Galaverse.

The Basics of Legends Reborn Decks

I won’t be going into suggestions or anything like that… far better to have you guys work out all the details. That’s why games have gamers. There are a few basics to keep in mind though. Here is what you need to know to get started.

Every Deck needs one Hero and five Creatures.

Using the drop-down menus in the Google Sheet you can select these to see how everything works together in the list on the right side.

All five Creatures and 25 Action Cards can be adjusted as you see fit. No abilities are tied to creatures and no creatures are tied to any hero. Total customization is available.

Build your dream deck to test your plans before launch

Heroes come with five Hero Cards tied directly to them, these make up the “character” and focus of that particular hero. The Cleric, as you can see, focuses on defensive abilities with a side order of attack. Great for cleansing all those heretics and evil doers from your lands.

The Heroes

Each Hero currently available can be used for a myriad of different strategies

There are five Heroes to choose from, each with their own card abilities. It will be interesting to see how they all play out, which one will you choose to focus on? Or will you focus at all? Do you try to balance your weaknesses, or fully subscribe to one strength?

The combinations are nearly inexhaustible. So get in there and start fiddling with those decks.

Creatures and Abilities

Similar to the Hero Cards, the Creature Cards have some options to sort out as well. Each Creature has an innate passive ability that can drastically alter how you play your deck. Creatures can have 5 Action Cards to slot in, so building to complement that ability is essential to crafting a winning deck.

The list of Action Cards is quite long. Without doing math, you could probably guess there are a little less than a gajillion different combinations out there to discover and choose from. Are you drooling yet CCG fans?

These Creature Cards are going to be something you will want to know about soon. We won’t get into why just yet, but soon there may be more about these cards in particular. If anyone asks, you didn’t hear it from me.

Action Cards

Future articles will detail a lot more about each of the Action Cards. In the Google Sheets link above there is a tab on the bottom that gives you a list of what each Action’s effects are. The only thing we suggest is reading up on it. Again, there are way too many to list here in any meaningful way.

So while you wait for more information on the Action Cards, go and check them out. And toy around with what sort of deck YOU want to try out.

Where Do I Submit My Deck?

There’s a couple of steps here but none are too hard:

First, take a screenshot of the deck you created. Second, make sure you join the Gala Games Discord and scroll down to the Legends Reborn channels. Third, post the screenshot and/or DM the devs.

Entries on or before May 25th will be considered for the Galaverse demo. Anything received after May 25th but before June 3rd will be considered for the Mid-June Playtest.

Don’t want to submit a deck? Don’t! This, however, is a chance to try out the exact type of deck you want before full release and it will help you become a Legend in your own right. Remember, with CCG usually you have to collect the cards you play with, so this is a chance to test your dream team before building your own roster.

Go get those screenshots in and see if your deck can stand up to your enemies. We’ll see you at the game table in Tolkiem!
